I agree. I'm in the same situation as you with only my parents to visit. I don't have a wife or kids either so it is nice to be able to stay out without worry. Just take care of yourself and make the best of your situation and freedom. I love it.

Like someone else said, I've learned to avoid the terminals as well. I would rather stay for a 34 at a truckstop or somewhere other than a terminal.

They always kept me cool in the summer. My last truck wouldn't stay warm though. The heater would kick off after meeting its set temp and never come back on. The shop never did get that sorted out after at least 4 tries. It was a 2010 prostar with an apu btw.

Dude, the mattresses in USA trucks are the cheapest of the cheap. basically spring wires covered with a thin layer of cloth and not even good enough for 150 pounder, you had better get 3 or 4 of those foam liners (memory foam) to put under your sheets. Most of their trucks have APUs...be forewarned that USA is not exactly well known for maintenance, so expect to have a lot of issues with them. I had three USA trucks with APUs...all of them had problems at one point or another. Their newer trucks are idling trucks, which to me are best as far as reliability goes, and keep in mind that they'll always be watching for over idling which to them is anything more than 4 hours a day (sarcasm)...you're supposed to suffer for the company. I've never seen a USA truck without an invertor...you're good to go with that, you won't be needing anything else.

I've had my no apu truck since april. I idle all the time. I've never had anything said to me. Trust me its waaaaay over 30%. I try to keep it to the minimum possible but I dont hang out in trucker lounges or terminals so I don't have a choice but idle to run the ac. My maintenance is always done at west memphis when I'm in home time. I have no major complaints about that terminal. Now repairs at other terminals has bit hit or miss for me. But I know a lot of the west memphis guys so that may help me.

When I first started work here at USA I had a truck without an APU and I ran the idle up to 65%. After several phone calls from FE I was routed to VB and assigned a truck with an APU. Lol, I've had an APU ever since. Run the idle and maybe they will take it from you.

Oh I can only dream lol. But with my luck they'd punish me with a truck that has a crappy apu that won't run right. Lol.
