I'm so glad I work for Reddaway now! They put a camera in my truck and I'll be making a career change. In fact I think I'll make one now just to be safe. That's ridiculous! I went on an interview almost a year ago where they had those cameras. One aiming at the driver and the other at the road. He spent an hour trying to convince me how good it was and actually benefited me! That's a little to far imo. I like trucking because I'm not being watched and there is a freedom to it. They take that away and forget it!

it works for me right now. I actually do enjoy it but keep my options open for career changes. List of other things I'd like to do instead. I wasn't going OTR though... I would've returned to full time battening first. That's where I made my money to buy my toys lol. Actually might be taking my Friday nights back as I have off Fridays and Saturdays.

All is good until the on-guard system detects the infamous ghost car. I drove a crapcadia with on-guard once. Never again.

@ACH yeah having a CDL you always have Otr to fall back on for work. Their always hiring and need drivers. I dont mind Otr just have to be on top of my eating but not working out erks the crap outta me. Lucky you got other options. Fri & Sat off lucky dog!
@ cool yeah my last company said they have a big surprise drivers will love. Cameras taa Daa!! You can guess what the drivers reaction was. Lol. -
Not only do I have a camera in my truck, I even paid for it. It points straight at the road. It is to cover my own arse though. The company doesn't know about it and I want to keep it that way.
Btw, no way in hell would I ever consider having a cam point at my face or an electronic babysitter strapped into my truck that keeps track of my speed or location. Granted, our gear doesn't even reach legal max speed limits for any state we operate in, but still... Its more about principle. -
The problem with falling back on OTR is that the bottom feeders don't see LTL or P&DC work as viable experience. You would have to start all over again as if you just got your license.

wait so since you hit them deer in montana did you stop and throw em on the catwalk... I mean its legal to do that sort of thing out there lol

I'd go back to a former employee I have a good rapport with. Left on good terms and I handled their big account with no problems compared to the drivers they have now. I have a O/O also who would hire me back in a heartbeat to run one of his trucks too. Have a buddy who can get me into a big Dry Bulk company too. You leave on good terms and people know how you work you can stay away from the mega carriers. I have plenty of good experience on my résumé. I've applied recently just to see what my options were and got call back from road carriers the next day. Turned them down but my LTL linehaul experience hasn't hendered me at all. I'm not a 20 yr driver but with my 7.5 yrs I have choose good companies that look more highly upon by the trucking industry.

I know the FedEx Ground contractor I worked for last winter would take me back if he had an opening. He is a really good contractor too. Has benefits and pays for a legal service for all the drivers.

Why would you even bother with a bottom feeder at that point?
