Hello everyone, from a new driver
12cpm first 3 months then it would be -25 for 3 months and then it would go up to 30 cpm
i was out there for only 3 weeks and decided that i just couldn't do all the work for 25 cpm, so i left now where do i go from here ?....

i do have the x endorsment, i don't really care if i am otr or regional as long it pays ok, as a starter what would be an avarage cpm to look for?

It's not so much the milage pay as the assessorial pays; detention/layover/tarp/unload/load/stop, etc.

For example, with a good flatbed company you can make over a grand a week. Most flatbed drivers make over $50K per year. Most tanker/hazmat drivers make over $60K per year.

    Melton Truck Lines
    System Transport
    Maverick Transportation
    Schneider Bulk (tanker)

Depending on where you live, plenty of high paying tanker jobs.
    Check Careerbuilder and Indeed websites.

I started out at 39 cpm last year on my first year after getting my CDL. I am up to 46 CPM now. You are getting seriously shafted

Which is good for you for leaving. 12-25 CPM is a joke. I make 46 CPM now... Plus $16 for detention, fueling, and anything that is not driving related. That is slave labour wages for 12-25 CPM. Who the hell pays that?

I just finished my rookie year in July. I was making $1200/week before taxes. I think that should be a good and fair starting point.

    mje and Prolaznik Thank this.

Did they tell you that before you signed on that you would make basically nothing? It is un-bloody real that anyone would go for that. How do you keep the lights on?

    mje Thanks this.
