Yeah.. Load abandonment looks pretty bad on your DAC. I havent met anyone that got another CDL job after doing it. You did the right thing by finishing your run and then leaving. Look at some of the LTL carriers for good paying jobs. That is where I am... Plus I don't spend a week out sleeping in my truck. You should also look into flatbedding as Chinatown mentioned. Good luck though!
12-25 cpm wasn't enough for me

Did you finish the training period since you are a new driver? Which company? If you don't want to post the name, you can PM me.Last edited: Aug 21, 2013

Oh ok. I think most people would leave or not even go there at that rate.mje Thanks this.

Unfortunately the joke might be on you if your old company adds any negative remarks on your DAC. Plus any prospective company might think if things don't go your way early, you'll quit on them.mje and Arizona..Fats Thank this. -
Can't a driver be honest with other companies in saying that 12/CPM is starvation pay? I can't see how anyone could stick with doing anything for that little money. 12/CPM x 2700 is $324 gross. You'd have to wash dishes, wait tables or wash trucks at every TS you stopped at just to get by.
mje Thanks this. -
Re-locate to a state with no personal income taxes first, Texas/Nevada/Washington are 3 of them. Now, get with a good company; not a starter company. In Houston - SVTN hires new CDL drivers and several other tanker companies there do also. Dallas/Las Vegas - hiring area for Melton Truck Lines and System Transport. Washington - trans-system website hires new drivers.
Watkins & Shepard runs vans and flatbeds, with terminals in Washington and Las Vegas. -
Thats what I did ,I told my new company that I left my old company because they suck, and if you lie, cheat or steal from me ,I will drop your as# just as fast..ARE WE CLEAR..??Last edited: Aug 21, 2013

Road-Runner,
What company are you working for? This seems like an EXCELLENT company.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.! -
When I was looking at companies to go with about 2 years ago, I believe Roehl was offering $0.12/mile for training, and then $0.23/mile after upgrading to solo.
