Some people have no family or their life was so horrible around family or their hometown, they are happy just to be on the road. There were guys killed in Vietnam and no one to claim the body or pay the $50K death gratuity to. A friend of mine gets physically ill when something reminds her of the town she was raised in; life was so hard living in abject poverty & couldn't even afford a cheap new dress for the senior prom.

you have to be strong and it's take great commitment to be an otr driver, you miss life and everything you like to do and you will be away from your family and kids plus attitude you get from shipper, receiver and car drivers i don't know i give you guys a lot of respect it don't matter how long you been driving nd i love you all, always keep a positive attitude and be safe out there i send this message from my bed and i know all of you are at the truckstop lol

Unfortunately, its true !!!!!

I'm usually out for four weeks then home for four days
-
No family, no kids, no home, haven't been to home terminal since first week of February.
-
Company? And do you have to keep reminding them that you want to stay out?
-
Swift....don't have to remind them at all. I just take "hometime" where ever I feel the need to get out of the truck for a few days. Usually get pretty tired about the 3 month mark and need to decompress.
-
LOL. No you don't have to remind them to keep you out! You will find that after you finally set a request for hometime that they will try to entice you to stay out by giving you a sweet load going the other way. Just refuse it with the note for hometime. They might get you there on time!
