USX was excellent for me straight out of CDL school. No company especially as large as a USX or Crete will be perfect but the way USX students out of school (especially if you teamed like I did) I made a killing. I only drove brand new trucks the whole time and they kept me running. Definitely don't let anyone talk you out of taking a serious look at USX its a great starter company. You just cant make everyone happy and some people have different work ethic than others.

 

US xpress has such a poor safety record, they are in the bottom quarter and being sanctioned by the DOT...

When I took my driving test, they only had one spare truck... an automatic international... and the thing overheated and left the testing trainer on the side of the road. He came back looking like he took a run in the desert...

All the other major companies beat them on safety, and they got annihilated by Werner... who is barely above average. What does that tell you?

People can go check out their CSA score themselves... the federal government runs a site for it.

Just got my prehire from USX, and have a partner lined up from my CDL school who's been accepted too. Seems like some of the best money you can make fresh out of school. What I wanted to ask here tho was, are there any "consistent" bonuses for team USX drivers? Safety, fuel, quarterlys. I'm obviously new to all this, so I'm not sure what's the norm, and I'm just wondering if I should only be expecting CPM pay and little to nothing else, or if there's even more.

 

If you plan on teaming make sure you both have your hazmat. USX pays students 48c split on all miles when a team has hazmat endorsement. You wont find better than that coming straight out of school especially being able to drive a 2014 Cascadia.

 

Thats what I was talking about! How the hell do all these companies like USX, Covenant, Swift, CRE... how the hell do they do so bad? I trained for Werner and we were given almost no training.... and yet Werner is WAY safer and higher paying. How can a company be such a huge screwup... so bad that they make Werner look good by comparison??? I swear, they must be handing the students bottles of whiskey and cutting out the seatbelts to lose to Werner by 30 percent.... Are they intentionally trying to get drivers killed???

But on a good note, the rumor that USX uses its physical to keep drivers from getting dedicated routes... is a bunch of BS. Almost nobody failed except for this guy who clearly had arthritis and some other health problems. I did the hard test, the 70lbs three times... and my heart rate was 138. The lady was like "Oh... wow"... so the test is not only easy.... anybody in half decent shape can blow it away. Another case of a mad driver lying to make himself look better.

So they might be a reckless company that has its head up its butt... but the rumors about the physical are not true.
