Cable and a padlock would secure it. If someone wants something they will get it. All you can do is your best to deter them.

If you are only eating canned food, you WILL DIE soon from elevated levels of sodium in most canned foods. Eat fresh or dont eat.
Only a rookie thinks his biggest complaint about trucking is cooking... LOL. Just wait.... -
Not going into this with blinders on, I know it is a very tough business and will have to overcome a lot of things. The military for 23+ years has taught me a lot and I have overcame a ton of things while serving. Not saying it will be easy at all but looking forward to the change of lifestylles

That is a bit simplistic. Yes, DO watch sodium levels. NO, canned food is NOT the best option. However, if it the option is canned food or McD's? Canned is probably better. Everyone's health issues are just that, theirs. Some people's systems work better on a carb-heavy diet. Some on more protein-heavy. Some people can't get fat no matter how hard they try. (Stoopid husband
) Still others work better with a more balanced approach to macronutrients Painting everyone with the same brush is what causes too many people serious issues.

I like it here. Seems to be picking up so can't complain. They are big enough to be successful and small enough to know you and care.

Shoot am I the only one who STILL uses his exhaust manifold to cook food? It works and its cheaper than buying stuff and I don't need an inverter. Just need tin foil, some wire and my food.
luvtotruck and fr8te_sh8ker Thank this. -
Talking about generators for a moment-- I keep the 2000 watt honda generator on the passenger floor. When it comes time to use it, I take it out and can put in under the hood and lock it to the leaf springs or back on the catwalk locked to the safety handle. Been on the truck for 3 summers now. Mostly use it for the portable air conditioner and other various hotel load items. Soon I will be going to either Jubitz Portland or 49er Sacramento and having them install shore power on the outside and inside household plugs so I don't have to run an extension cord out the window.
e7shirleym Thanks this. -
almost all the truckstops have a microwave over by the coffee
you can heat up meals in that
I just buy coffee at the truckstop
occasionally the soups at a pilot
the potato soup makes a good base to make other soups with
like adding a can of cream style corn and calling it corn chowder
instant oatmeal and free hot water from the truckstop works too -
I used to use a lunch box cooker exclusively. It works and works well. Sure is cheaper than eating in the truck stops!
