There are also pickle loads coming out of Florida. One of the main farms for that in the middle of the state will now be booking those loads through brokers as the guy that had been handling that left too many drivers sitting for too many days.

We haul chickens and turkey to Florida but...........until after January we never get backhauls. Getting loads out of Florida has been impossible. We just came home deadheading again. I would love to know where to get reefer loads out of there.

As I've previously said, most loads are already contracted out to the dozens of local trucking companies that operate out of this county, but try Homestead (south west of Miami). I know just recently my boyfriend's boss was looking for an O/O to haul a couple loads he didn't have an available driver for (long story). The farmers down here are just starting to plow their fields, and the first crops start coming in right about the first of the year. At the moment there's a lot of tropical fruit moving out, which should stay steady till at least mid-October.

ETA: My avocado trees were harvested for the first time a little over a week ago. They'll be harvested again in 2-3 weeks. The grove owner down the street is at least 2-3 weeks away from final harvest from what I can see when I pass by on my daily run. My mangoes are done for the year and the Key Limes are at least should be ready in a few days. Since I'm not a major commercial operation, we have a local place come out and do the harvesting. We could probably make more money if we harvested ourselves, but we're lazy.

    Heres what I know:

FL sees a lot of Floral stuff coming out of Miami, and I've seen some loads out of Pierson. Also, I have seen melons come out of Port Canaveral. I know the orange juice comes out of Eustis, Deland, Wildwood, Sarasota, and Lake Wales. In Ocala you have who I think its Nestle bottled water. Tampa as well as Plant City ships a lot of stuff out. I've seen Lake City ship some loads out as well. I also saw in the Sunco thread that Leesburg ships some out. Hope this helps.

Unless you're hauling from the place you delivered back to the place you picked up, it's NOT a backhaul!

Ever been to Melon 1 waiting 3 days for your load????

Not to mention beef. FL is the 3rd largest state east of the MS for cattle. Though it's true getting into FL with freight isn't all that hard. Getting out on the other hand, depending on your type of trailer is a little more difficult.

    The Challenger Thanks this.
