Success is all in the person, not the company. You will succeed if you have a good business sense and know how to market yourself and your services. Stay away from the load boards when possiable and keep in good contact with agents. I do very, very well here at LS, but I am also on the platform side and have no idea what goes on with the van stuff. I get 73% of gross, not 65% and I operate a smooth ship. Good luck to those who bash LS, but I doubt you'll be doing any better with your L/P deal at Werner![]()

Success is not just about the owner operator. I know plenty of hard working Landstar BCO's who are not doing well on the van side. Mr. SHC admits he knows nothing of the Landstar Van side because he is platform. Mind you platform is a better paying part of trucking. So I doubt Mr. SHC can properly make a comment either way on the van side. Yes, your right SHC I probably would not do any better at one of those other carriers. But does that not confirm my point about Landstar? Its no better then the rest which is my point exactly.

I did very well with LS I had very little problem with agents and enjoyed what I was doing. I just got tried of corpate BS and their money eating ways first 6yrs no problem but the last 2yrs things just keep getting more ridiculous

No, it's mainly about the O/O and how he runs his business. The majority who come here are used to having someone hold their hand and dispatch for them. That is not how things work here. Some can't grasp the fact that a load is posted at a set revenue. The RPM does not matter, it's just shown on there so you won't have to get out your calculators. I hear daily from LS drivers who have less than 1 year in here about how a load 'screwed them over on detention" or "they didn't get paid any accessorials" .... well that's not how it works here. This is as close to being an independant as you can get, but still have the backing of a major corp for things like tires, insurance, and other things. i love it here, and won't go elsewhere.
As for them trying to "control" the BCO, i have no clue what you are talking about. i have no tracking devices in my truck, or on my trailer. They have never called me and asked me any questions. In fact, I never hear from them unless it is a phone call reply to something I called in about. -
YET...............................

Did they put one in your truck???
And if they did, why did they put it in there? -
Great Points...We are up to 4000 on e-logs and they want them mandated soon...Read the writing on the wall. One BCO at a time..I recieved a call for not having my trailer number in the box and then they said my trailer was in canada..I dont run canada...
-
Once again, do you have a elog in your truck???

According to log dept i am being ''watched''...For what..??...My trailer in Canada...
