ok so i got in with prime inc. and the recruiter recommended to me that i should get my permit before going up there since they pay for my bus ticket there but if i cannot pass the test then i get sent back and have to pay for it, so after fighting with my doctor to get in this morning for the physical and then rushing to the dmv to take the test i took and passed both the general knowledge and the air brake test but i did not have time to take the combined vehicle test. so the dmv gave me a class b permit and told me that it could be upgraded to an a whenever i take the combined vehicle test. i would stay and take it on monday but my bus leave on sunday at 7pm.

That sucks - if I remember correctly, the combo test is pretty brief and self explanatory.

The DMV should be open on Saturday. They are in Washington state. Don't know about other states.

So did you sign up for their school? If so, you should be able to get the correct permit and everything else you need from them.

unfortunately i am in Louisiana and they are only opened monday-friday and prime doesn't do the normal school they put you with a trainer for so many hours of training and then you go take the cdl test the you get another trainer for 30,000 miles is how they explained it to me and they said i can get my cdl up there but i didn't want to have to the the general knowledge and air brake test again

    things have changed.

when i went to school. everyone got there learners. and i beleive their hard copy was mailed to them. and they had to switch it over to their home state.

at least, that's what i remember the other students saying.

i lived 2 miles from the school. so getting my license was no big deal.

in utah, they used to be open 6 days. but when the economy tanked. they shut down to 4 days. in an effort to save on the power bill. and overtime pay.
they are opened on fridays now. but hired extra help so the employees stay on the 4 days schedule.

Not sure I really totally understand what the heck this company is doing, but you cannot drive a combination vehicle (Class A) without the endorsement. So the trainer couldn't use you at all until you have that and the air brakes endorsement in hand. Are you saying that Prime is taking students off the street with no schooling or experience at all and placing them with trainers?!?!?

As CDLs goes? I doubt you can just upgrade in a different state, more than likely you will need to re-due the test adding combo along with it, can you go back to the original state and talk to them? When did you do the general and air test, How long ago? that state may be more willing to let you just do the combo and make your permit a class A instead of a class B
