remember. when you are talking to recruiters. listen to them. mostly listen to the tone of there voice. that is the easiest way to spot a bad company. if they are in a hurry or awnser questions in a round about way. that is a pretty good red flag. the other thing you need to remember. is finding people you can work with in trucking. is the hardest part. when i started out. I changed jobs after 5 months of experience. and landed the next job which I stayed at for 20 years. and trucking today and driver turn over rate isn't much different then it was then. now drivers have a dac report that keeps track of there work history. so they can't lie about experience. that was a big issue until the late 80's. in your case. 9 months plus a driving certificate plus experience as a premade team. coupled with a clean csa a clean mvr and a clean dac. is better then what most drivers posting here have. here's how the driving certificate works. that is the same as having a year experience. so ad the 9 months to it. that is a year and nine months. so it's not that bad. just make sure you pick a company that you are willing to stay at for years and one that is going to fit your needs. remember to interview them as much as they interview you. and orientation is an interview. so if you get to where you don't like what they have to offer or say. you can always leave. and show orientation only for the employment. it's better then trying to work for them for a few months. and find out that they are no better then the company you came from. so when you take home time again. use that time to go to an orientation. and the miles may pick up for you guys when the company you are in orientation for calls to get verification on you.
Looking for a good company for husband and wife team

We have our hazmat endorsement. Will we need to have the doubles and triples to apply with Old Dominion?

We received an offer from Lily Transportation. Hauling produce from the west coast, Texas and Florida back east. 6 days out 2-3 days at home. I have tried to find info on them but can't find anything. Does anyone know anything about them. Sounds like it could be a nice gig, if it is a reputable company.

Probably be hard to beat the hometime they offer, for OTR teaming, unless you get on with Old Dominion. If regular hometime is important, might be OK. I worked for a logistics company at one time, YRC Logistics, and most all loads went to grocery warehouses. I dealt with it because of regular home time. Just depends on your wants & needs. No company is perfect.CasinoGal Thanks this.

We will give Lily some thought. Right now, the home time would be good. We need a year experience for Old Dominion, so we will have to place that on the back burner for now. The money they are paying is considerably more than we are making now, so as long as we continue to budget and save up, if and when the time comes to move on, we will be able to take our time and find the right company for us.

Look up "The Logistics Group" They are based out of Pheonix, AZ but, we have never been there. My wife and I run mainly Nashville, tn to Laredo, tx, to Toledo, OH to kansas city, mo and those are terminals. We do go to customers some times but not all the time. The company has day cab drivers for that but, sometimes they will need our help. We sit in Laredo about 50% of the time for up to 9hrs. We each get $7.75 an hour, after the 1st 4 hours though. We also sit in toledo sometimes but rarely and not for more that a couple hours. We move all the time, drop and hook mainly. We only live unload at a customer and that is about 50% of the time that we go to customers. We have worked for 3 companies as a team,,pulled reefer with USXpress and ran for a fedex contractor for a minute. We have no complaints here at TLG. Good company, good pay ($.44cpm starting out, than $.46cpm after 6 mo's than, $.48cpm at a year). Great benefits and new trucks. Dry van freight and all auto parts. If interested, let me know...yes, I do get a recruiting bonus but, I don't need it. My integrity is more important than money. God bless
