Not very often, but some times when i shift it only goes half way into the gear. I press the clutch or go peddle and it drops in all the way. Please explane.

Sounds like all the time. It's a give and take with the engine and the trans. 1 wins, 1 loses and 1 suffers.

When you shift, you are choosing the proper rpm for the speed your going so when you slide into the next gear the engine and trans will be going the same speed and it will slide right in. If you don't shift fast enough, the trans will weigh on the engine before its fully in gear. this will also happen if your going up hill and your road speed slows faster then the rpm drops. Normally a rev and drop will fix it to. Its more likely to happen on a certain gear or older trans. I dont know the science, but sometimes thye are worn to a spot and getting past the 1/2 mark needs to be more precise. If your a good shifter and it happens on a trans with more then 700K on it, i wouldn't worry about it. If its a new trans and your a good shifter, there may be something wrong. Maybe something isn't lining up right. It happens occasionally on both the trucks i have driven, but both had over 700K on them and im not a great shifter. Both were 13 speed.

I jumped in a brand new 9 speed for a road test and I did surprisingly well, didin't grind once and every shift was perfect. I blame the old trans for my poor shifting lol. But, if it aint broke dont fix it. I'm not gonna replace a trans that still works but might just hiccup every once in a while.

Yes, I get the same - even with a new truck. it's my shifting I think a little lazy when floating, or not quite a 'solid' shift. Like you say, not very often. I have to ease off the throttle and push it the rest of the way in, it won't go under load.

Im a floater. Since im local and its a newer (rental ) truck im kinda slow with the shifting. Im not in a hurry. I will pay more attention to the speed of my shifting. Thanks everyone.

If it's hard to get into gear at all times and in all situations....sliding clutches are not sliding on splines due to damage caused by forcing into gear. Driver abuse.

That is pretty normal when floating gears if you don't shift at the exact right time...My old ProStar done it once in awhile.
Just ease off the throttle and it would fall all the way in gear.
