Some do just that. Get the CDL while working in the office or docks, then move into driving later if they want.

Just thinking, but a way for an o/o to make extra money. Providing insurance would let you do it. Charge a fee to ride for 3,5, or 7 days. So all of us non-drivers could experience what truck driving is all about. It could possibly save a lot of wannabes some money in the long run. Considering most of them don't last three months. Paying $500 to ride three days is a lot cheaper than $5000 and finding out you don't like it. Just a thought.

That sounds like an idea... provided the OO would want someone asking him questions constantly for 3 days while he fights traffic..hahaha. similar to the ride alongs police do....or well did...

That is hillarious. Funniest thing I have heard all day. One of my drivers was held "hostage" today for 3 1/2 hours at a construction site.

It would definitely save money for the 80% plus new drivers that end up quitting after a short period of time.

Once again GREATWIDE is going away.. Cardinal has taken over.. They are moving their people into place.. You need to stop selling greatwide... They said they may keep the greatwide name but it is being ran by cardinal now.. Give it up.

I am starting to believe you are a paid shill for greatwide.

I've seen subtler ways of updating other people's knowledge and correcting mistakes, but everybody does have their own style . . .

I just don't want anyone to get in the boat I am in right now with greatwide.. It is a hard place to work for, Cardinal is taking over as we speak (just about done) and this person keeps pushing them.. He tells new drivers to go there, greatwide will not hire students anymore (not sure about cardinal and after the takeover is 100%).. It is constant bad info gets me upset.. Don't send your friends to a sinking ship.
