Yikes! A truckload of newly-released cell phone stolen. http://m.intomobile.com/2013/10/25/truck-22500-lg-g2-smartphones-jacked-indiana/?secid=9508
Does this happen often? Is it driver carelessness or unavoidable?
Do trucks have door locks?

High Value Load, should have been guarded, or secured better then it was, Sometimes these deals like this is an inside deal, The driver knew what he had and knew what he was getting in a load, And set it up! These things don't happen very often, I have hauled a few High Value Loads, I had to call with my location every few hours and anytime I stopped to fuel or anything, They kept very good statistics on where I was. I hope this helps!

I would carry my own lock in case the trailer did not have a lock put on it after loading.....a $5 - $10 lock is good insurance for $50,000 load, and would let you sleep a lot better at night.

Yes they do. But thieves are pretty crafty.

And you always want to make sure they put the lock/seal on the "right" door, not the "left" door. Yes, this happened on a high value load.
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
More like a $2,000,000 load. No $5 lock on this load, that's why they took the whole truck.

Most drivers leave the motor running and doors unlocked while they run into the truck stop and then act all surprised when something happens. But that's everybody, not just truck drivers. It's no secret where valuable electronics are manufactured and he was more than likely followed from the shipper until he made his first stop.

I was told not to stop
for at least 300 miles after I picked up a Valuable load, that leaves the half tankers who are going to follow me!
It couldn't have happened to a worse company then Sprint! But I won't high jack the thread with that!

...and when you do stop, put the cuff locks on the brake buttons or the steering knuckle lock.luvtotruck Thanks this.
