I talked to a eaton rep on that issue about 6 years ago, and it's easy to convert to an automatic... if you have the money, it's so cost prohibitive that you're better off buying a truck that has an automatic. as for opti idle, 2007 volvo's either have Volvo engine or Cummins engine, opti idle is for detroit engines. I you have a cummins engine, you can get an cummins ICON system, not sure the cost but I have 2 trucks that have that system and it's disabled. I asked about re-enabling them but was told they're not as reliable and are unpredictable so I don't feel like paying to have them re-enabled if they're not going to work right. Their is a company that does a universal kit or something like it that is talked a bit about in this forum: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...606-a-question-about-cummins-icon-system.html I looked into it just enough to know that it's supposedly the basis for both cummins ICON and Detroit opti idle

as for doing it your self, you wouldn't be able to because you'll have change parts of the wiring harness as automatics need to be able to control the engine for downshifting and I'm certain that the computers in engine and possible the body computer would need to be reprogrammed. if you could find one in the junkyard, you'd need the whole truck as a donor truck.

    Everett Thanks this.
