Anytime I'm delivering to a Sams club store, and I'm ready for a break, I find a place and take my 10. Never once had an issue after showing the rent a cop my bills.

I just don't miss the reefer days.
Seems the truck parking issue will steadily worsen.

my first trainer never had a trash can

swept it out with his foot
we are our own worse enemies

as you watch guys talking on their phones
    without headsets remember that
when your company doesn't allow cell phones in the truck

Also in some of the eastern states is where Walmart a few years ago got a hefty EPA fine because of trucks idling in their lots. The groupies went around finding the trucks and reporting them. Walmart now can get a I believe a $25000 fine if they have someone on their lot caught idling.

Then you have cities that don't want you around also mandating what places can do, esp the bigger cities. It is a pain. And I would say if they have no parking signs posted, someone may wake up to being towed off. Wasn't there a deal going on awhile ago in OH about this happening at a couple of them; tow trucks making money, but legal.

Our local store in Demopolis, AL has done the let/not let park game in the past. For the last 3 yrs I guess it is on again here. I have never really seen any trucker here leave a mess in the lot. I hope they appreciate being able to park there. It is not a 24hr store. We also have a small local truckstop at Chevron where a lot of the locals park and it is kept clean also.

I think all bigger industrial park areas should have parking for drivers of some sort, even if they have to buy a lot for 20-50 trucks. Husband is at TA in Jessup, MD waiting to unload at a place now because they don't have room for him to unload at the docks yet, luckily it is only 2 businesses down,

Gestapo? It's private property. Why do you feel entitled to park there? Might as well head to their personnel office and grab their handouts on food stamps and "Obama Care" while you're at it.

A few bad drivers are causing these problems. I saw a Werner truck at a Walmart store just North of Chattanooga nosed in about 25 yards from the front entrance to the store & blocking many car parking spots. He was sitting there staring at women. Used to that store let trucks park at the furtherest area away from the store entrance, now no trucks allowed and the police enforce it.

I pulled into a Walmart lot in an area used by truck drivers. There were literally piles of garbage in the parking area, including piss bottles. Between the garbage, the need for Walmart to call Hazmat to deal with human waste, and the inability of truckers to comply with no idle ordinances; it is small wonder that more and more Walmart stores are no longer welcoming truckers. While we can get all puffed up and say, "Well, I'm not going to support Walmart anymore so I won't shop there"... the impact of additional staff to clean up the garbage, the cost of Hazmat, and their exposure to fines for trucks idling in their lot all make for a losing situation for Walmart. We couldn't buy enough to offset those costs.

Can't remember which Walmart is was, but an owner-operator did an oil change in the parking lot and let the old oil drain into the storm drain. Then left the empty quart size plastic oil bottles in a shopping cart along with the old filters. The used oil went into a holding pond behind the store. Big problem for him though because he got caught an the fines were in the thousands of dollars, plus the cleanup costs of the storm system and holding pond.
