You're not a Sprint fan, but based on plans, Sprint is the place to go. They have an unlimited plan that includes internet. They are the only major cell carrier with unlimited web service at an affordable price. I don't count prepaid carriers, even the ones owned by the majors. The prepaids never have the same coverage abilities. Prepaid is cheap, but their coverage is severely lacking away from population centers. I've been with Sprint for years, and their mobile hot spot is a great deal for using your laptop on the road. I've rarely had trouble getting a good connection.
One more thing. You say your not a data junkie, but you will be as a driver. The trucking industry is really breaking out into web based services for things such as scanning delivery receipts, finding loads, checking weather, and much more. -
VERIZON!!!!! By far light years ahead of anyone. I did TONS of research on cell service etc about 6 months ago for daughter. Read tons and tons. Their far ahead and besides that I always had signal when in middle of no where in the west when others didn't. If I ever considered anyone else would be At&T but no one even on same planet after those 2 for OTR Coverage/Service. GL on your choice.blairandgretchen and STexan Thank this.

Be careful saying that. I've had more dropped calls since all tel was bought out by Verizon wireless than I ever did when I was with all tel. Verizon sucks really. I lose service a lot. Run across hwy 2 out by broken bow and take 2 up to 83 you will lose service. Service down in northern KS west of Marysville and east of washinton is horrible as well. I've had no service out in BFE before thank god I've never broke down. Some of the guys I talk to recommend US cellular I can neither confirm nor deny but I can say Verizon isn't all that great its a bandwagon gimmick. They have good phones but service and customer service suck.
There is no reliable phone carrier anymore you want a reliable phone pull into the truck stop pull out 50 cents and USA a pay phone. Ive had calls dropped in the middle of directions and its definitely an frustrating ordeal. I'd run from Verizon if I were you especially with the cost as opposed to what you get. $50/line plus data is ridiculous. As for sprint they won't work for me they don't have service in my area. Verizon has good towers but if I'm going to pay an arm leg and left nut for my lines I want better service and to be treated like a human being when I need help. -
wall/mart has ver. phones 4;sale 50$ a mo. U buy card each MO. and get internet, phone all unlimited {straight talk}

Verizon or ATT, but Verizon is more solid in more places then ATT. I ran both for 2 years trucking nationwide and storm chasing the plains states until a few months ago and Verizon get's my vote. Do a nationwide carrier not a small regional areas carrier like Alltel or US Cellular who contracts with outside carriers for roaming. Verizon's LTE network is far superior to ATT's current LTE network. I can count on one hand the areas where an ATT device will out-service a Verizon device, and these are typically in isolated rural areas in KS/OK

After having a broken phone and now back home for the holidays. I think I will make the safe bet and go with Verizon. Despite the outrage cost. I guess you get what you paid for. My last phone broke on me. So I want to hurry and get a new one before I get back on the road, and after some time with my mentor using his phone to make calls to my family in spots I wouldn't even imagine any phone carrier getting -Utah Nebraska Colorado- But also area's like Arizona Texas and New Mexico (especially velpass). It seems as if Verizon is my choice. Of course I wouldn't want to pay so much that's almost close to my car note but at the same time. I need service in area's where I might get into some crap. Hopefully with black Friday looming right around the corner I will be able to get into a sweet deal. If you guys think that should be my choice than il just go with it. Either way thanks in advance for the advice.

Believe me. If you read the research Ive done over cell phones in recent pass EVERYONE would be using Verizon. Their light years ahead of EVERYONE. Next closest is At&T. Other than those 2 for coverage for OTR Drivers I wouldn't use anyone else. Yes TMobile and Sprint are cheaper but get what you pay for. GL on choice.
Cw5110 Thanks this. -
Appreciate it kindly. Now to just figure out what phone I want lol.

have had other providers. Have been with Verizon now for many years , back when they were still Alltell. They IMO have the BEST coverage of anyone. T Mobile sucks IMO..their coverage is nothin compared to Verizon...
