Im currently taking a 3 weeks course program at Roadmaster here in Orlando, FL. I already finished a week and starting the second week tomorrow. I already understand most things like the 11 hour rule, on duty jobs and off duty and the sleeper berth. I know about the 10 hour off duty and the 70 hour in a week. What seems to be giving me a hard time is calculating to get the total hours on duty for the last 8 days. For example I have on here this calculation, the total hours available tomorrow ( 70 hours ) minus the total hours on duty last 7 days. So I subtracted 70-35=35 Another one I did was add 8+10+10+10+5 which gives you 43 for total hours on duty last 7 days. Now I subtracted 70-43=27. How do I get the hours on duty for the last 8 days. On the paper it says 64 but I don't know how the instructor got the answer. Its really confusing and now I want to know on how do I get the calculation for the total hours on duty last 8 days ? Everything else I understand

Hard to answer without seeing the format if their question.
Cannot exceed 70 hrs in 8 days.
So, at the end of day 7, you add up that day and the previous 6 days. Say, 8+8+8+8+8+8, is 48, plus the day you've just finished - 10. Total 58.
70 - 58 = 12 hours available for the 8th day. All good.
Wake up on day 8 and use 13 hours.
Now, it becomes 8+8+8+8+8+10+13=63.
70-63 = 7 hours left for the next day.
You're just dragging a 7 day period behind you as you go, adding that day to it, and monitoring it so you don't exceed the 70hrs.
Hope that helps . (?)CondoCruiser, n3ss, crxdc and 1 other person Thank this. -
Basically you are subtracting 7 days total from 70 everyday to figure out the next day's hours. You are constantly dropping the first day and picking up a new day. The recap helps you figure.
Instead of me explaining I'll give you a link to the grand daddy of trucking forms.
When there the second link will show your recap in Lehman terms.
