Need tips on how to get out of the mud.

A few years ago Freightliner in their big 200 units a day had to find a lot of parking for the overflow. They found a farmers field and put about 20 units there. It took a wrecker to get them all out. Laying gravel down, the bigger rocks might help in the future.

 

I guess you can't unhook and get your tractor in a better position. I would try to put the tractor at an angle so you are only moving one side of trailer wheels at a time until you are rolling. Of course, make sure your dollies are on something solid before you unhook. Don't forget to fill in your ruts.

 

When it iced real bad in Dallas in 2011, a guy we offroad with took his buggy out to loop 12 and was dragging fully loaded trucks up pretty decent grades. A heavy truck with traction can ease you out. Not yank but ease.

 

Yea, I would think long and hard about calling a wrecker. Companies are becoming a major PITA about marking points on drivers records for it as an accident/incident. One company I worked for did just that and marked it as an accident which I had removed after a small legal fight. Thank god for cameras or I wouldn't have gotten it cleared up. All I was doing was following the customers directions to get to the loading area but they never mentioned the ENTIRE property was nothing but a giant mud hole other wise I wouldn't have gone in.

 

Yes, companies frown on calling a tow truck.

They also frown on dropped driveshafts, and rigs laying on their sides !

I've used a 4 wheel drive pickup to help a few stuck trucks........

 

If you call a hook, pay for it yourself, it will be cheaper in the end. I've been pulled out by a small Ford tractor before. My first instinct would be to chain the drives.

 

Might want to visit the truck wash before getting to international. Erase all evidence. Its not honest hut neither are companies. What they dont know won't hurt them.
