Is it that bad? How does it work?.....I gotta take EVERYTHING out of the truck.....coolers, etc?

Seems most people hate it...which if you share with a slob, I get :yes2557:

Just wondering....have a great holiday, everyone

How bad it is depends on your mentality. I've done it and it sucked for me because I have zero patience for people too lazy to clean trash, windows, and refuel.

Depends on the company. If your just sharing between shifts and you always use the same truck you can probably leave some things in the truck and just work it out with the other person.OTR where you would probably never get the same truck you need to take all your stuff with you.

Other than possibly not having what you need at a particular time because your traveling light you have the other big thing that makes slip seating suck, the other drivers. You run all week and want to get home but your tired so they leave a bunch of trash in the vehicle. You have no idea if they had an issue with the truck and never wrote it up because they were in a hurry and could care less if you sit on the side of the road broke down because their home. You have the just downright dirty drivers who never shower letting their stench soak into the seats and mattress.Leaving rotting food in little nooks and for you to find.If you don't smoke and don't like the smell oh well the guy before you smoked and you get to ride around for your time oout smelling stale cigarettes.I think the cons outweigh any "benefit" to slip seating

I had to slip seat with one of our shuttle drivers for about 6 months. Thankfully he was as picky as me when it came to keeping the truck clean and maintained. We had a great system after a while. As one of us was heading home, the other was on his way in, so we'd give each other a call about any problems we'd noticed or had fixed. It was nice climbing in on a cold winter morning and finding a full thermos of hot coffee, too, which I'd replace with fresh at the end of my shift to return the favor.

I slipped with a different driver for less than a week, and I wanted to beat him with my cheater bar. Nastiest man in our fleet.

My uncle does it all the time with his wife. Twice the miles out of the same truck...sounds like a good deal to me

    Well covered.
Can be either good or terrible.
OTR slip seat would be annoying, takes me a good 2 hours to strip our sleeper truck if it quits and I have to take another.

Our day cabs slip seat, if doing meet and turn. If running over the road they keep it.

It does teach you to travel light, however . . .
