I moved from dry van to Trimac about two months ago. Love it! Not too many companies that fly you to their training center, put you up in a nice hotel with a private room, provide a vehicle for use after class, pay for all meals and expenses. Equipment is top rate with excellent benefits. Great affordable insurance, 10 paid holidays, 2 weeks paid vacation, 401K with $0.66 matching, weekly and monthly safety pay at 5% and 7% and more. I am hauling chemicals but they also haul dry bulk, oilfield, fuel, cryogenic and compressed gasses. My weekly take home has been running double what I was taking home previously which, if it continues, should put me at $65 to $70K a year.

Have been looking at Trimac....their Chicago terminal is a little far from where I live. Do you know what their policy is as far as taking truck home? Thanks

They don't allow trucks to go home. But they do have arrangements with other companies for dropping truck. You might call them and see if they have somewhere close. I just started with them two months ago and love the company. What a difference!!!!! Great pay and benefits as well as good equipment.

Wow who knew making a decision would be so hard. Researched, looked up, talked to drivers, whole bit. First company applied to said thanks but no thanks....huh. So just tried again with 2nd choice....hopefully hear back in a day or two. Anyone with an opinion between Trimac, Quality Carriers, or the Pumpkin? You work for 'em?

Quality is hiring out of Joliet, I just finished orientation yesterday in Joliet, and will be doing 7-10 days with a local driver for training. I have no tanker exp.
The affiliate in joliet is Midwest services, I'll be working for another affiliate Triangle transport in Chicago.
So far I'm pleased with all I have herd from drivers out of the terminals

Reverend… I don't know your driving record, but based on your experience, I would think you would be a good candidate for Walmart… I don't work for them, but everything I read about them is incredibly positive. I don't know if they have a distribution center nearby, but might be worth looking into. You will make far more money than you currently do, and will be home more as well. Just something to think about...

I tried Walmart, but I had 2 accidents within the last 3 years. Even though they were both non-preventable (including one where I was rear ended by another truck); that was enough for Walmart to stop the application & say "not qualified". I too had read up on their private fleet & would have loved to have signed on. But they make no distinction between preventable & non.....so that was that.

I pull tanks and am loving it. I cant think of anything that I dont like about pulling them. I've only been pulling tanks for 8 months and am at 47K. I think you should go for it. I hardly ever sit. Granted all companies are different but I always have a load waiting for me before I'm unloaded. I get weekends off too! Good luck, OP

Do you guys know of any tanker companies that run out of Memphis area that takes on new drivers? I've checked around and don't get a lot of response. Been solo for 4 months and have CDL A with tanker, hazmat and doubles/triples. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I guess you could say in the short time I'm tired of waiting and inconsistent checks.
