Ok, so I'm 20 years old and gonna be turning 21 in October, I'm hesitant on gettin my cdl because I'm not sure if anyone will consider hiring me, does anyone know of any mom n pop companies or grain mills in north Texas (celina tx) that will consider taking someone of my catagory? Any info would help me out, thanks! + I'm a hard worker with a clean record and one hell of a work ethic

Millis Transfer in Burleson, TX will probably hire you when you're 21.

For jobs before you're 21, check Careerbuilder website. You can drive within the state of Texas while under 21 yrs. old, so yes, get your CDL.

If you can't find a grain hauler job, try household goods moving companies and hire on as a drivers helper. Might have to help load and unload trucks and make deliveries and pickups within the state of Texas.

You can study and get your permit in the meantime.
As China said, INTRAstate is OK till you're 21.

Treat all your actions in a vehicle from now on as if you had a CDL.

    Good luck.

TMC hires at 21 if you have been to Driving School. It's no cakewalk going through orientation but they have a great training program and when you get through it you go out with a trainer for 5 weeks. After that they bring you back to the Des Moines terminal and put you through a road test and backing skills test. After you pass those you are assigned your truck and you go get your first load. Flatbed trucking is the only way to go. Unless you want to put some weight on.

Millis Burleson, will definately take you when you turn 21. I was sitting with Harold when he fielded a call yesterday concerning this. So yes, you can get on at 21, as far as grain, I don't know. If you have your tanker endorsement for intrastate you might check Basic Energy Services, they haul water local North Texas for oilfields and are fairly desperate for new drivers...according to a friend who works there, they even hired a guy who took 16 tries to pass his CDL.
