just a thought for you. do you know how many people are trying to get the job you have right now? there is a waiting list. and it's not exactly short. wonder why that is compared to OTR.
new experiences are fun and all that, but being home to see your kids soccer game isn't all bad either. stay home and be a dad while you can. they grow up fast and you will wish you had been there.

Maybe you can upgrade to CDL-A and work part time on your days off. I've known several drivers that did this. They worked part time for container/drayage companies or food service companies delivering to grocery stores. You shouldn't have a problem finding a part time job hauling containers for a drayage company.

Learn how to use a hand truck .trust me you will need it. Make sure your background information is all together as well. All companies will be asking for 10 years of employment. I would agree with one of the early posts about training.

Sorry .didn't get to finish previous posts. I was going to say make sure you check out the Truck Driving School before you sign up. My school experience was absolute craziness. I went to a school that was a 3 week training . I really didn't learn anything other than how the driving test would be administered. I was totally unprepared to drive a truck after getting my CDL. I was the only one in my class to pass the CDL test on the first try that is 1 of 15 people. So, please research the training before you go!

You got a good paying job, yo want to take a chance on driving a truck that can actually prevent you from getting another job if you get into an accident or do something stupid. You think that 800 a week jobs are out there in an industry where some people struggle to make 500 a week, if they are lucky and you have no experience with a growing family at home?
I would do this, I would stick to the job you have, wait until the kids are grown and go for it than, this industry isn't going anywhere soon. -
