Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

Been on the website and couldn't find all my answers, question I have is I live in eastern north Carolina, bout 30 miles off i95. How often would I be able to get home and how exactly does their home time work? Also does anyone know if they have an age requirement? Thanks in advance.

 

Should be no problem getting home. I live in Durham and generally get home via Hope Mills Wal-Mart load that should be in your neighborhood. You can take 7 business days off (weekend and holidays don't count so if you play it right you can take off 11 straight days). One year experience I believe.

Managed to snag what looked to be the only "easy" load left out of 10 offered. Hopefully a nice easy off load at a mom and pop's in Aurora, CO for Thursday morning. Weather looks rather decent out that way for the next few days.

 

I'm reloading tomorrow in Quincy, WA going back to Dallas. Going to try for a Saturday afternoon delivery. If not then I guess I'll fight the Monday morning mob to get unloaded. Either way I'm on the outbound board for Monday & will be in GP by Saturday evening.

I also checked the weather situation out here thru the weekend. Does indeed look favorable.

 

The new trucks have started to arrive. Nothing special same interior as the last batch and i do believe Cummins powered with def.

 

Anyone know the best way to get to the Lowes in Lebanon, OR from GP. This will be my first time to the northwest so easier would be better. Pu thursday for monday delivery so plenty of time.

 

This time of year depends on the weather. Normally I would go thru Amarillo up to Cheyenne across to I84 all the way to Portland & down I5. However, you could consider going thru NM & up 491 out of Gallup to Cortez,CO over to 191 in UT, over Price Canyon on rt6 to I15, then connect to I84 & over. The choice is yours. Right now & they the weekend there doesn't appear to be any weather to worry about.

 

Best to get some weather reports to decide which way to go this time of year. Just know that you're most likely needing to get to I-84 at some point. I say that because 90% of all your route choices should include Boise, Idaho to Lebanon. When the weather is good I go this route...I get to I-40 either up 287 or out 20 and up 84 through Clovis,NM. Once on 40 I run out to Albuquerque. From there I usually go up 25 to 550 and run that to Farminton,NM. You can also run on over to Gallup and up 491 to Farmington if you like. Then it's 491 up through Cortez,CO and on to 191 in Monticello,UT. Then it's up 191 through Moab to I-70 and jog west to Green River,NM. Then go north on 6 all the way to I-15 in Provo,NM. Run I-15 up through Salt Lake City and on up to I-84. From there it's I-84 all the way to I-5 and then south to your Lebanon exit off I-5. As I said...weather is key to best route. This was just one of many ways to go. I would just focus on best weather getting to Salt Lake City and going from there. Hope this helps and you have safe travel. Take care out there!

 

Hwy 20 west in OR is not a truck route? I dont have my trucker map with me at home. I was thinking 287 to I40 west to 385 to 87 to I25 and then interstate it from then on. Maybe a few shortcuts from there but I dont know the area. And I guess the I35 up and over would be out of route. Weather looks ok.

 

I'm in Orem UT right now and was planning on going that route...if ya'll don't hear anything from me after this...it means it's bad and I slid off a cliff...but all my state weather apps say UT, CO and NM are all clear and dry with no weather coming in to worry about

 

US 20 in Oregon is a truck route for most of the way. If you take that route then you will have to detour off to OR126, OR226 and hook back east on US 20. This route is quite a bit shorter than the I-84 route and I have taken it 3-4 times. It can be a little tedious on those final roads but I like the back roads and scenery when I have time and the weather permits. That said although it is shorter the I-84 might actually be quicker although for the most part US20 in the east is wide open to roll and those picnic spots on the atlas are actually quite nice rest areas between Burns and Bend.

Well the last regular Volvo running is probably done. Was readying to leave this morning at 0500 and had to go to shop for them to turn the speed down and they couldn't figure out how to get the machine to work so after about 4 hours they decided it would have to go to Bruckner's and I would need to get a loaner truck for my trip. Since they were going to take her away in the next couple of months I decided to just go ahead and jump back into one of the two Internationals that were available (took the one with the regular APU) instead of hopping back and forth into trucks continually. Hopefully this old girl has had her kinks worked out of her (sitting at 174K miles).
