Have a read of my thread on a conversation with Brock Express. Perfect example. Nice shiny truck, 23cpm. 10 years experience. If you WANT to BELIEVE that you can only make 40 or 50 k a year, then help yourself.

If drivers refused to sign on to companies for less than 40cpm . . . .aaaaaah . . . . forget it.

 

lol if you think 64 is a lot, ask TMC trainers what they make. I only trained for 15 weeks, but its a pretty penny.

I hear "you gotta drive 600 miles a day... blah blah blah...", and the first reaction I have is "SO WHAT?? BIG DEAL!!" I'll drive that in the morning without even thinking twice about it. I don't mean to brag, but my wife often has to force me to stop and take a break when we go anywhere; the last time I did a long trip by myself (to southern Louisiana), I didn't stop 'til I got to Houma, my destination; prior to that, it was to Wyoming, and she made me stop halfway and spend the night; but I could've done the entire 1300 mile trip in one day.

So that won't be a problem for me.

 

If corporations would realize their greatest, best, and most expensive assets were THEIR PEOPLE... aaaaaaah...., forget it, they'll just lynch me for speaking the truth...

 

They could put something like "Our Most Valuable Resource Sits 53' Ahead" on then side of their trailers!

 

This dude, OP's video is speaking to new drivers that are OTR. He said the truth. I agree with it.
Not every one is a golden boy that dictates recruiters highest earnings for the year to put on posters.

 

64...ain't alot of money ...It's average , but certainly not top pay....Lots of places pay a lot less hence the 100% turnover rate...but there ARE places that pay much better....

 

These big companies with high turnover rates (for whatever reason) have factored the cost of recruiting and replacement into their bottom lines.

They pay their bean counters and comptrollers big money to control the margins. One thing is apparent to me, they don't sit around fretting about how to retain drivers, because they have run the numbers and know that retention costs, i.e., better pay and benefits, cost their bottom line more than just cycling new guys through the system.
