I talked to a driver whose first job out of school was with Prime. They talked him into leasing a truck with no driving experience. Did okay but got stuck in a rut of running Texas to Salt Lake City loaded then return to Texas empty and they did not pay for empty miles. Good question to ask a carrier is if they pay empty miles. Another question to ask is if you could be a trainer after six months with no moving violations or accidents. If the answer is yes then you will have a very high likelihood of GETTING a trainer with almost no experience.

You seem to imply someone with 6 months experience has little or nothing to teach those with no experience. I'd argue the first 6 months are the 6 months you learn the most, by virtue of committing the most mistakes, and are able to remember those most vividly. Someone with 20 years experience 1. Probably isn't going to agree to train a rookie, and 2. Probably doesn't remember those mistakes as well, or what it's like to be a rookie so they're going to tend to not have as much patience for missing what seems obvious to them.

I just threw my application in with Prime today. Last week i applied for C. R. England. I'm honestly trying to stay away from England. There are pros and cons to everything in life. Some people suck at their jobs, some are good. England just gives me a bad vibe, that's why i'm shooting for prime. I'm in the same boat as you. I want to know as much as possible before i do something. In this case, you can't know everything. All i can say is, do what you are doing. Research as much as possible. Until you are content with what you know and happy with yourself, you'll never feel good about a job. It is what you make it. I'm sure that even Prime will have some people that suck at their job, and some that actually care. I'm going out on a limb with this one. I know that it will be what i put into it. I've been dealing with ###### construction jobs and i know that things are worse than truck driving.

It's like anything in life. There are no shortcuts. You have to put in time and effort before you can reap the benefits. Good luck on choosing a company!

I got my start with Prime 11 years ago and stayed with them until I found my dream job. IMO Prime is one of the better start up companies for newbies, with no experience. They always treated me with respect, and if I had any problems, it was dealt with. Nice thing with Prime is during training they feed you 3 square meals a day, and the hotel is decent. The simulators are a fun way to get introduced with shifting. One note about Prime, is they are strict in training dealing with horsing around. If you don't take things serious, they'll kick you to the curb.
