There's money to be made here but I think 179K might be on the high side of the average. But then I'm one of those that pulls the average down because I'm picky and don't mind sitting, waiting for the cherry load.
I only gross approx. 100K
I also play at home as much as I'm gone.

 

lol, flightline. I am on the high end of the stick then. I did over 180k my first two years here, this year I slacked off and with the next two loads that deliver by the 31st and the one I will drop Monday, I will hit i75k this year with only 2500 revenue in august when my truck broke. but I got my trl paid off, make the last apu payment in jan and march I have this big ride paid off, then I am going to hang out in Louisville every week and cook out everyday

 

I have really been researching Mercer for about 3-5 yrs only because it's one of them lifetime jobs and I have only 2months left to pay my beautiful Peterbilt of and I didn't want the overhead of trailer payment and tires at the same time. I knew it can be possible with both but I wanted to ensure that the Head (the truck) was free and clear so if anything else came up I wouldn't be scratching my head with payments on both plus my divorce makes it just that much sweeter when a greedy ex doesn't think you're worth anything but a dead end job not knowing you are buying a truck instead of just driving someone else's truck...

 

This past April I brought a driver into Mercer. He will finish at 154k for the year. He delivered his last load today. He had a learning curve and did fantastic in my opinion.
I myself was home about 3 months all year combined. I finished out today @183. This last quarter I really pushed hard but I was still home nearly every weekend.
I grossed 238k last year however, I was hardly home and very unhappy. And I was with Mercer only 2 months 10 months somewhere else.

I already have the hammer down for next year with 2 loads booked coast to coast. 10k in revenue by the 9th lol

That is great for ya !! As I said some love Mercer and some hate Mercer.

 

Also I just booked East coast to California and booked a reload back to My house Jan 2. The same day I deliver. Go figure I didn't sit again.

Got two buddies sitting out in Cali right now... $1.25 a mile freight... Go figure. Anyone can stay loaded .... Doesn't mean its profitable.
