yah you can drive an OTR truck into mexico, just NOT loaded(go figure) you can follow a mexican truck in with your load then pull the empty out
-
Its all drop and hook in mexico.
-
We can't go in loaded?!!! But they can cross into the states loaded?? Who thought that crap up??
-
that is a good question. i have picked up from 2 locations San Diego, CA (5 or miles from border) and Laredo,TX (10 or so miles from border) both of them i have to wiat for the load. takes forever too. not srue why they have such stupid rules
-
The real question is, "why would you want to drive your loaded truck into Mexico"? Your insurance wouldn't cover you. You would have every bandito within 50 miles trying to hijack you. And mostly, do you have enough money to "grease" the palms of every Policia you would see?
Not worth it.
Our company had an idiot bobtail into Juarez. Took several months and thousands of dollars to get the stripped tractor back.
Oh, and the driver was jailed in Mexico and received no help from the company. He did eventually get out.JadeLove, Jimmeyjack, heyns57 and 2 others Thank this. -
oh ok that makes sense now, didnt know any of that.and why ge the striped tractor back anywya?

I was under the impression that NAFTA had an unrestricted flow of trade back and forth between the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.

I know Mexicans that wouldn't step foot into Mexico if their life depended on it. Too bad, because it is a BEAUTIFUL country. You see all the billboards on I-35 north of Laredo selling temporary auto insurance. I couldn't even imagine the quagmire of details for taking a truck into Mexico.
