Yipeeeeeee!!!! I survived the day. I started my day in Roscoe, IL. I'm headed to N.Vernon. I65 was still closed, I94 in Indiana was closed, so I went ahead with my plan of I39 to I74 to Indy then down. The cross winds on I39 were unworldly...it looked like some of the shots on the Ice Road Truckers...but the roads weren't bad....until I got past Champaigne. Then it was intermittent snow and ice...but not bad for a while. Then things got real ugly real quick. There were some places that it looked like a junkyard there were so many accidents(from last night I'm guessing because all the vehicles had the orange streamers). Some trucks flipped, one was broken in half...the truck and a few feet of his trailer on one side...the rest of his trailer and his freight on the other...and then I hit Indiana...I think I saw 1 plow truck all the way across I74, and he wasn't doing anything...no ice melt no plowing...just riding around. I think they used a Zambonie last night because it was an ice rink in spots. However! These supersingles did much better than I thought they'd do. In fact, steering was the big issue.

When I got around Indy...I realized I had made a mistake pushing this far today...the Pilot, Loves and Flying J in Whiteland were beyond full...however being the adventerous person(or being the idiot I tend to be) I managed to get blindsided into a tight spot on ice so slick I couldn't walk, but my supersingles and my 43,000 lb load didn't let me down.

Now I am going to collapse and fall into a deep sleep very near coma levels because this kind of driving wears me out worse than driving 1000 non-stop miles use to when I was young, dumb and full off.......uh...nevermind....goodnight folks.

The weather didn't turn ugly for me until Indiana. I came down I39 to I74. Illinois had 39 in decent shape, and I think things only got better going west from there

However, there is another storm moving down and it's gona meet with the gulf moisture. Towards the later part of the week the midwest is looking at some ice according to the Commercial channel...I mean the Weather Channel.

I might have snuck in and been able to spend the night until daylight everyone would have thought I was an O/O until they could read the name on the truck...oh wait...I swore I'd never step foot on that termnal's property after they forgot to tighten the bolt that holds the steering column together

Well ran a tad over 134K miles for the year (134,434). I was surprised that I also had 153 additional pick up and drops for the year. I think a lot of that came from having my home terminal in Henderson for a portion of the year so I didn't have to turn in paper work and could keep on racking up the extra pay until I went back there. Hopefully moving back out there I can start to chalk up that extra pay again this year.

Made it back up to the J in Texarkana, AR and decided to call it a day. Somehow damaged my right foot so bad that is has swollen up and is very sore (hurts to touch the pedals). Don't know what I did and would look like I would recall something that has it messed up this bad. Thought it was a stone bruise yesterday but the swelling went up and shot that theory down. The pain has gotten bearable as the day has worn on so hopefully tomorrow things will be back close to normal.

Thanks bro. I think it will be ok, would have been a little worried had it not got a little better throughout the evening and not so painful on the pedals. Where are you heading? I got a pretty straight shot up north, probably stop in Kearney, MO tomorrow night.

It is the ice follies here in Whiteland, IN. Things got so jammed up, the Love's sent their tire guy out to the intersection between them and the Peelot with bags of softener salt. One driver really fouled up when he went to turn in the Love's, he dropped not 1 side but both sides of his trailer axles in the ditch. Had it not been for his ICC bumper hitting the curb and digging into the ground, he'd have flipped. His truck was so warped, both his drivers side drive tandems were off the ground.

And I hope International gets these DEF trucks issues fixed before it's my turn to get a new truck. There was not one but two drivers waiting on tow trucks to have their brand new DEF Prostars towed to the dealer because their DEF system froze...and there isn't any antifreeze additive for that stuff. One guy said it might be tomorrow before a tow truck gets to him they're so busy pulling trucks out of ditches and picking up wrecks for the State Troopers.

Outbound called me earlier making sure I was gona make the delivery tomorrow with all the nasty weather around here. And I just got off the phone with Backhaul. Once empty I pick up in Indy deliver to Plymouth, MN. I guess they figure since most of my body was already numb from the cold...another trip won't hurt. Today was the 1st time since Saturday morning that I've seen temps above 0. And it was also the first time I've turned off my truck as well. Even with winter fuel from the Great White North... and the Howe's I dumped in...I still don't trust shutting down when it's below 0. If they don't like my fuel mileage...then they sure wouldn't like a tow bill and a defrost charge.

    Dinomite Thanks this.
