I think teams split .45 a mile base...

Here's a question... How come when I called the Hayward ca hub yesterday asking about their driving school: they had NO idea what I was talking about... Then said the school is full, but couldn't tell me how many students do they take.......

Guess my question is WHO down there knows anything? lol

(if you're wondering: I'm interested because I need a refresher or an "accelerated program" like they supposedly have)

It is forced dispatch though I haven't had any NYC deliveries yet.

Hayward would be a freight yard. Con-way Freight and Con-way Truckload are distinct divisions and neither would know much about the other's recruitment efforts.

Someone PM'd but their box was full so I'll answer here:

I don't think Con-way is quite as strict as they make out to be. Report your little bumps & scrapes and you may lose your safety bonus and have to talk with safety, but you'll be fine. Hide them and you may get fired.

This obviously excludes the big stuff -- rollovers and rear enders... But taking a mirror off, crunching a cab fairing, creasing the side of a trailer, putting a rut in a lawn... these are boneheaded mistakes that they generally forgive (but not forget -- so don't make a habit of them).

I haven't (yet?) done any of the above, but I have talked to various drivers who have and are still here.

Now there are other policies that can get you fired -- like bobtailing on hometime... Or getting into an argument with a customer to the point they ask you never to come back. So they are more strict than most megas, but they do not demand perfection.

I don't. I know our turnover is around 60% (compared to an industry average of 100% +/-). And we have multiple walls in the Joplin terminal with names/photos of million milers (compared to 1 row of pictures on 1 wall at my former company). Heck we have two 4-million milers.

How does one try and get into con-way's "training program" (the website isnt as helpful as one might think)
