@PreciousinDMV and to others who admitted this story 'could' be true. I am the original Poster, and there didn't seem to be responses to this story last fall, so I just shrugged and moved on. This is not an 'old' story, nor was it ever posted on this forum before. The woman driver concerned contacted Desiree at Real Women In Trucking, who posted exactly what I put up here.
I am astonished that no one has commented on the obvious. The police who first came on the scene went and talked to the 'creep driver'. When they came back to the woman, she wrote that their attitude towards her had changed. It also seemed that none of the cops knew how to verify her QC status as driver on the truck. After they spoke to the man who assaulted her, no one cared to investigate her story any further, and the marks on her neck didn't count.
Hello? The guy told the cops it was a sex game. That's all the police needed to put her story down as a lie. They concluded immediately she was a slut. Sadly, we live in a world now where most men are watching porn everyday.
The criminal told the same story at the terminal, which explains the laughter - "I wonder how she got those bruises? Ha! Ha!"
I check Desiree's website every so often. There has been no follow up, but it really hasn't been that long -- if this has developed into a lawsuit - as I hope it has.
On a personal note, I let my hard-earned CDL lapse myself, because FFE and Werner both employ trainers who are incompetent, as well as liars. My one female trainer told me I was her first student (she had been driving 6 mos.); and she couldn't drive at night because she suffered from 'night blindness' - which she never told Werner. She broke company regs by making a U-turn on a 2-lane roadway, near a curve no less. She parked the rig in a town in the passing lane, so she could dash into a the office of a cell phone provider and update her bill payment. Finally, she got the flu and gave it to me, and then she told me to 'get the h--- off her truck'. So I ended up stranded in an industrial area (she had gotten lost, so we missed out delivery time and the place was closed for the night). I finally find a taxi company that would come way out there to pick me up in a high crime zone.#
As for the Iraq war veteran, who trained for FFE, he told me he was suicidal and taking drugs he had not reported to the company. I got no rest, because he was playing Sirius at full volume when I was in the sleeper everytime (same show always with sex jokes, btw). While I was driving one night, I took a wrong turn, and had to wake him up so he could help me back out of a deadend street. Nothing but yelling and abuse, and I opened the driver door to look look around to see where to turn, as he wouldn't help me; then I fell right out of the truck on my back. Happily, no injury. He called the company: "I want her off my truck." #So I called Werner. "Please, I need help." No dice. We were on a load. We ended up at a truckstop outside of Chicago, and he was acting so crazy, I rushed inside and actually went straight to a security guard, to ask him to escort me back to the truck so I could get my stuff. The trainer saw the guard and then wouldn't let me in. He started up the truck and threw all my things right out of the window, while he was driving straight at me on the way out of the parking lot.
Then there was the trainer who told me I would be better off delivering pizzas at night, like his wife. I didn't go on the road with him, as he was clearly sizing me up. Then there was the fella who kept rubbing his body against me, and bragging about a former student who was still sending him her naked pictures online. Last but not least, there was the cleancut, middle-aged 'committed' team driver who said it was good we were both married, and we could make good money, purely business. When we had a breakdown, he wanted to share my hotel room.
I think it is wonderful for a woman to be able to team with a relative, boyfriend, or husband. And I know that some women I met OTR had great men trainers who never gave them any worries. But when you strike out, like I did, time after time, you have to figure - it's not going to happen. I got into trucking at 55, and I knew I didn't have a long career ahead of me anyway.
Wanna blame me?
Did I not like the lifestyle? I loved the lifestyle! I wanted my own truck with a slow cooker to make my stews, and a fridge to stock up when possible. I kept trying to train for 7 long months, so I didn't just give up -- the time passed waiting for trainers, changing company, on leave-of-absence for that bad flu, getting home hundreds of miles away from either company terminal, getting stranded, using my credit card for airfare. If I had been broke and without resources, the story could be a lot uglier. My husband and I had both retired early, but on reduced funds, and I had hoped to earn some money to help our finances. I did not expect it would be easy. I was willing to suck it up and pay my dues. No prima donna here. #We lost big money, as it all added up. #I had paid for my CDL training upfront.
The dream didn't happen. But I still look at tractor-trailers on the highway, and I smile, remembering the good moments, and how confident I felt when I passed my driving tests.
Nobody can ever take that away from me. Thanks for reading. I am now 63. Women drivers will always be my sisters. When you meet one, understand what she might have had to go through, ok? -
smh.... let it die already.

No way. #The fat lady is still singing. #Face up to it. #The industry is sick to death.

I had a male driver weird out on me.. It startd with the hints at wanting to have a sexual relationship, fun in thw truck and bla bla, to which i wantd no part of.. He would throw temper tantrums.. once incident, i was driving through St. Louis in rush hour traffic, he was in the passenger seat, he told me to changes lanes, move a lane to the left.. only there was a car beside me in that lane, he told me to start moving over and the car would move.. I said I wasn't gonna do that cause I didn't want an accident, since that car didn't really have anywhere to go either.. it was rush hour, bumper to bumper.. Well, he flew off on some bizaro rant, about all the #### he has seen as a trucker.. yelling out hywys and interstates and accidents and about bodies all over the road.. it was bizaro to say the least.. I got us through St. Louis safely and pulled into the first truck stop I came to..
He demanded to know what i thought I was doing, I told him I was parking the truck.. he the said loudly in som wierd tone, "You need to gt this truck back on the road, i did not give permission for you to stop!" To which I stopped the truck right there and pulled the brakes and got out, he got out and said 'You need to get back in the truck" to which I said "You need freaking help and to take your meds"
at that point I called dispatch and told them he was off the deep end... I told them what had happened.. they told me to go inside and get some coffee and they would call me back.. well, about a half hour later, I see another driver who drives for the company pull in and go talk to him.. dispatch calls me and say he is talking to him and they would call me back... well, about another 30 minutes or so pass and they both come into the truck stop.. he apologizes to me, and he is being sheepish.. and in front of us both, the other drivers tells him that he is on probation and better not mss up..
Anyway, I gt back on the truck and he is alright for a few days.. well, evntually i have enough and gt off the truck with all my stuff at a truck stop close enough to my home that I could have my brother come pick me up.. I call the company and tell them that I got off the truck and why..
Well, they fire him and ask me to come drive for them solo.. so i do..
Now, this was not the greatest company and I soon after left... but my point is.. weird #### does happen... but, also, sometimes a company does handle it..
Now, for all women out there.. I do not know why any woman would not take at least one, if not more, self defense classes... especially if you are coming into this industry..
I also always have my tazer with me and charged...
And finally... don't think there are not freaky weird female trainers as well.. -
I agree with you sister :smt039

This forum was for reporting bad companies, and the OP starts out with I can't name the company. Brilliant!

If someone is... there is no other word but ignorant enough to move into a 8x7 box with a total stranger, especially the opposite sex they know nothing about they open themselves up to a nightmare like this.
Team driving isn't worth the few extra bucks. Leave it to best friends and married couples.
I can hardly believe the cops wrote it off. Sorry but cops are hot and heavy on domestic violence. Then a second party the company wrote it off? Perhaps her story is stretched like most upset drivers do.
