Is there any tanker companies that pay percent of load plus hourly pay for loading/unloading and get home every weekend? I'm getting paid hourly for all right now which is awesome ($20 a hour for driving,$12 for line 4 work). I'm grossing about $1200 a week currently but always on the lookout for something better. Insurance is killing me ($200 a week). Any ideas? I live in Iowa.

We need not be concerned with your romantic geographical preferences.

The hourly is decent - you realise the percenrtage deal wouldn't compensate you for any line 4.

Grass always looks greener, but I always look too.

Looks like he's doing pretty good where he is. He can "take home" more than he's "grossing" but would have to run OTR. Better off where he is if he likes being home on weekends. I used to haul acid to Tama, Iowa from Tennessee. Can't remember the name of the customer right now.

That's where I live. Most likely bituminous or kci.
Yeah this gig ain't bad. I'm just always on the lookout. This is a good smaller company.

When I began hauling gas, I would gross $1,200-$1,350ish in 5 days running 100% legal and home every day. As EVERYTHING is, all good things will eventually come to an end. Company cut back pay on stop offs plus the fuel went to inline blended ethanol. That equalled around a $300 per week pay cut.

Moral, sounds like you have a good job right now. Ride it till it begins to sink then jump ship.

True that 30 years not 30 days these guys deserves a better look nd support i wouldn't mind to call them heroes nd if fmcsa was care that much about highway safety they should have at least send them a thankful card or a award or something.

Completely agree. It would also give the newer people something to strive for.
