You are destined for failure if the transmission type is your driving factor. After a month you will discover 100 things that are by far worse than shifting gears.
Cbake84, blairandgretchen and DsquareD Thank this. -
No no, its not that. I just think that will make driving life a ######## easier! My motivation is money and being close to home. I am even considering going OTR if the money is right...ive been looking at some NICE extended sleeper cabs with showers, stoves, microwaves, toilets, etc. real nice stuff!

Slow down there a little. Going from never even being around a truck to owning one right out of school is a good way to be bankrupt, with a repo'd truck and fifty thousand in bad debt. You need to learn the industry before committing to buying a truck. This industry has a ridiculous high failure rate, something like 98 percent. The main difference between the majority and those 2 percenters is preparation and not jumping into things.
Slow down and prepare, that will set you up for success. Jumping right into it will set you up for failure.blairandgretchen, fld and bergy Thank this. -
Nothing wrong with dreaming, and that's what you are doing. Forget the showers, the toilets, the chrome and all that type of BS. You need a truck that will assist you in turning a profit, ie, reliable, fuel efficient, spec'd for your loads etc etc. You need to understand business and how to run one, you need to understand a profit & loss statement, a balance sheet, assets and expenses. You need to understand logistics, brokers, insurance.
You are running before you can walk, hell, you ain't crawling yet. Slow down, educate yourself and put the truck classifieds down.blairandgretchen, fld and bergy Thank this. -

I think you have a lot of research to do on other threads here, Mike.
I'm in 10 years, and I am TENTATIVELY researching cash buying a truck and leasing on to a carrier.
Read that statement twice and chew.
