I am unable to do any classes or training right now due to shoulder surgery last week but I wanted to get my mind going on my CDL and learning trucks and laws and just general info. I was going to pick up a book on Amazon to get in the right mind set, is there any recommendations you guys could give me?

Not sure about books to buy as I also am a wannabe trucker but I am sure some one here will have better info.
Good luckChinatown Thanks this. -
Go to the top of this page and click on "CDL Practice Tests."

Definitely visit your local DMV/BMV/SOS - whatever they call the place you get your driver's license - and get your state's CDL manual. They should give it to you at no charge, and it will contain a wealth of information that applies to your state.
The practice tests on this site were a huge help to me, too. I just kept at them until I could consistently score in the 90% range, which is more than is required to pass the written tests here in Michigan. -
A study guide may be more of what I am looking for or maybe even something a little more in depth. -
All you need to do is download a copy of your states CDL practice manual. All sections are very basic and simple with the exception of HAZ MAT, which is still simple just very lengthy. All questions for the test will come straight from the manual so it's just a matter of reading, comprehending, and taking the test quizzes at the end of each section.
Once you have mastered your states requirements play around with the test quizzes here on this website and you'll be good to go. -
Thank you. I found the CT CDL Manual and that is what I was looking for.

If you don't wanna go to your DMV to get the manual, see if you can download it.I know the Iowa manual you can.
