I had a student get one in Washington and it was a $150 fine with 1.5 points added to his MVR. He wrote the judge a letter stating that he did mess up and by the time he realized the weigh station was open he could not safely exit freeway without endangering motoring public around him. Case was dismissed.

Hey Howlin', that sucks, been there done that. roger on the moving violation on your record. Not real serious could be worse, unless he wrote it as " failing to obey warning/traffic sign" that'll hurt, same as running stop or construction warning. Won't affect CSA unless he did an inspection on you.
Fines vary a lot. I was threatened with $1850 in Oregon for using bypass lane w/empty Lowboy.
now I'm the empty guy lined up for the scale IF I don't see a "empties bypass" sign no matter what state.
just send a letter in, or show up if you can, and beg for mercy :)....good luck

Your citation should be for failure to observe a traffic control device. I've gotten one of those before. That's a non moving violation. Don't know about CSA points for that.

I got a failure-to-obey-a-traffic-control-device in Ohio in a construction zone on I-71. Trucks were required to be in the left lane. Never could get over because of the traffic. Nobody wanted to let me over. Cop saw me, after the construction zone pulled me over. Can't say I wasn't there. But, I asked him, would he rather I smashed a few four-wheelers into the jersey barrier just to get over?

    Wife had 2 of them.
I believe its "failure to obey traffic control device", non moving, no biggie. Check the wording.

Write the judge a letter, plead temporary insanity.

    Good luck.

Pretty serious violation. You'll probably be brought back to terminal ASAP.
