Hi, can anyone tell me if there's a proper course of action to take when a company won't pay ya? I gave plenty of notice that I was leaving, turned in all docs and logbooks..
Now they refuse to pay me over $4,000 I earned my last week with em.. what can I do? Thanks.. Doc

    Labor department?

I think there's pretty strict state laws on final pay.

    Unless you're a contractor - maybe that's a small claims court issue - aka - hassle.

Either way, a quick call to an attorney might be a better idea . . .

Oh, they won't answer the phone calls, emails. texts. etc etc.. There are laws and proper channels to go through, I was hoping somebody could put me on the right path. Small claims is not the way to go.. but thanks for your input.

The truck should allways be down and waiting on $ the week before you leave, will give time to find out what you forgot to deal with new lease.

I quit and they didn't pay!

There is too little info regarding the terms of separation. Does the lease have the "fine print" you may have overlooked? (some of the legalese that often gets overlooked at the signing)

I would have an attorney review the lease for exceptions. Exceptions are when the company purposely words documents in such a manner they hide cost in a undetermined way as to allow them the right to charge back for items at their discretion with out any contingencies.

    good luck bro....

First rule of quitting a service based job, or exiting a lease... Make sure you have received any payment due prior to announcing your departure.

I'm paid by the load, so in the event of needing to go elsewhere for non-amicable reasons, I would wait until all of my pending loads were paid. That way I'm only going to squabble about the escrow that the carrier I'm leased to holds.

Most contracts will say they have up to 45 days to make final payment.
They want to make sure there are no hidden damage claim, fuel bill etc.
Like others have said allways get all your money that you can before leaving..

You might be able to file a lien against the company but you only have 45 days from the last day you worked there.

Vinnie & Vito could pay them a visit with baseball bats and a eye on the kneecaps as they ask for your money...
