I did say PAM was a pretty good company, and I still stand by that opinion even after having some dissatisfying experiences. The fact is, you're likely to have some issues at one point or anything no matter how good the company is. I chose to leave PAM, not because they were a bad company, but because I felt like I wasn't getting the fair treatment that other drivers had been getting according to their statements about PAM. I really think there are more than a hand full of employees in the front office and in dispatch. Even a few DM's I think may not be very delightful, if you know what I mean.

I can't really blame the company as a whole, but whether PAM just has some personnel issues or possibly even some problems with the way they run their operations, I'd still have to say they're a pretty good company as a whole. Just because I said I had bad experiences, doesn't mean I didn't have any good experiences. I could understand why you'd find it unusual that I'd say I had bad experiences, but still said they're a good company. I just understand that PAM's supervisors don't always know exactly what is going on, and a lot of that bad treatment is just common practice nowadays. Unfortunately.

Also, PAM's policy on new drivers under there recruiting program had to run teams for a minimum of 6 months, or do a full year before getting the option of going solo. So, some of those bad experiences could've been avoided had I got the chance to stay solo before being paired with a random stranger. Though, I have to admit, starting out with a teammate does speed up the learning process because it makes it a lot easier when you have someone watching your back.

Not sure why so many drivers complain about a company and home time when there are so many local jobs. I work 4 days a week 10-12 hrs day (its a union job with guarantee of 40 hours) I make around 1k week and pay 144.50 a month for health insurance for my family. I enjoy having 14days off a month. Ok the downside I go to work at 1:30 am I don't just back in a door and watch someone unload my trailer. I unload and down stack at most stops and yes I use a power jack. this job is physical but I figure its good for my fat ace and I enjoy seeing my kids and wife each night.

I for one cant wait to get back behind the wheel. Sick of office politics and back biteing, and the political correctness lol. All the behavior you mentioned exisit in literally every work place outside trucking in one form or another. I dont care if you are in trucking or work at the local BestBuy. Some people are predisposed to be jerks regardless of the profession. Trust me on this.

Dont think for one second that a local or office job is all peaches and cream. Imagine having to go look at the faces of people you cannot stand or backstab you every day! Yup, you have to wake up and go to work and put up with office politics and back biteing everysingle day! At least in trucking there is some measure of control, and freedom) for the driver.

    Peace :biggrin_2553:

  7. Say what can one do about companies that know you put in the time to be out say 5-6 weeks and want you to be home only two days,or they gave you the run around send you the the other way,or split your loads 18-21 times, use you up till your hopping mad, then pay you but half your loads?

Good start is just what you started to do. Let others know about this company and red flag them. Now, the next issue is the short pay. That is going to be a bit trickier because you have to be diplomatic. The hard part of this is because you really want to discuss the parentage and species of their parents. That being said, present the paperwork to the person in charge of doing the pay roll setup and mention that a mistake was made. This is where the oversight was made and I would appreciate this being corrected. There should not be a problem with that part. The next issue is your happiness in staying with them. You don't want to be a job hopper as that never looks good on a resume, but it the issues cannot be resolved, then start looking elsewhere. Not entirely sure of the legal procedures in your jurisdiction, but you may have to go that route say, via employment standards, or labor department to remedy the financial end if they decide to balk at proper payment. A small claims proceedings may be another alternative.

  9. At the moment seeking work, seeking companies by going to USA.com they got good fed jobs available, I like to drive but some of these dispatchers think you don't have a life so why go home? I got 17 years total CDL A driving with one minor fender bender in my car, no commercial vehicle at all (trucks, buses)so why does CA companies try to hurt your livelihood by thinking your slaves and if you say something they try to blacklist you...Good luck out there be safe...
