UPSF is odd to work for, can't really say treated like a ginger step child. felt like it at times. Not for me and won't bad mouth the experience. ABF is definitely more relaxed and has a better ratio of drivers to move up.

I started at 15.88hr/.399cpm. Started in linehaul no P&D work. Been on a forklift twice in 2 yrs. Took me a year to get a linehaul bid made 66k last yr should hit 70k+ this year. It depends what terminal if it's big or small. All the LTL's in my area including us are slammed. For instance I heard FXF is hiring linehaul off the street which is rare for my area plus they need 26 city drivers too. I'm thinking hiring this year for LTL will be doubled in big areas. If anyone wants a LTL gig this is the hiring time.

Yes UPSF treats us like unwanted step children. Want us to rush rush but be safe at the same time, make the bills per hour blah blah blah. Like I've said if it weren't for that pension and waiting to here from some other gigs (non trucking related) I would've been back to YRC already

I've thought about it. But I have 0 tanker exp short of the liquid bulk containers and they won't count.

I got a call from a Terminal Manager in Dallas for ABF. He told me to put in an application and put on my patient pants. He said road driver, is that like OTR? I know ABF is pretty much the top dog or at least one of the pack. It would mean moving my entire life (car, bed, cactus) and finding somewhere in Dallas to live. Would this be worth it? The TM called me because I talked to an ABF guy taking his 30, he was cool enough to actually pass my info to his terminal manager. The call surprised the dogwind out of me.

I think ABF is somewhere at the top of my list too. I have applied at ABF, SEFL, SAIA, Old Dominion, ESTES, YRC and AAA Copper. I have a few more to go. Everyone says they are hiring but I haven't heard a word yet.

Road driver is "Linehaul". You are based out of terminal A.. and you push to terminal B... then you swap trailers and turn back to your home terminal. Should be between 170 - 300 miles between your start point and your turn point... Take the bloody job! Line drivers make bank!

YRC called me today. But not for driving, they want me in operations. Apparently I am more qualified to drive a desk. I told him I'd get back with him about it. Do any of you know about how much the guys in ops would make? My gross as otr is near 60k. I don't want to take an enormous paycut to go home every day. I still have dreams of building a house on the two acres of lakefront I own.
