Have you tried Southwestern motor transport. Usf Reddaway or Holland don't have terminals down there so that's were our LTL freight goes and I understand they are LTL too.

Can't tell you if their gonna pay well but thought I throw that out there. We have a small LTL out fit in my area that only does like 3-4 states and they make more than me cpm. North Park Transportation NPT. So its not all about the big LTL's in making good money. Overnite was the same way til UPSF bought them. Drivers loved working for Overnite.

SWMT I plan to visit in person. I'll look into the others. There are no small outfits around that I know offhand.
Also I applied to Yrc for linehaul dispatcher and I was here thinking I had done just linehaul and maybe they thought I was some sort of computer savant. After explaining my mistake they told me the only way onto linehaul in my area was a combo of p&d and dock work. Doh' -
Yea that sounds about right about Overnite. Even the dock guys were happy there. One guy said when UPS bought them out the whole family feeling at work went down.
To the OP YRC in the end of line terminals only have a handful of runs for lime haul. Mostly layovers. Usually the more senior guys do itRadman Thanks this. -
Overnight drivers sure don't like UPSF. I've talked to a bunch of them out here and they say the only thing that's better is the pay and benefits. Same with the old Watkins drivers, they can't stand FXF. Oh well what can you do? Seems all the good jobs are getting gobbled up by these big places. I'd rather have a good place to work than fancy benefits anymore. As long as I can pay my bills, go on vacations and have some savings, I'm good. The pension for the younger guys will probably vanish when they go to collect it! A lot of things can happen in 20, 30, or 40 years.

The big players that are profitable can be less warm. I have seen the corporate manager crazy with power and with cost savings. Poisons the whole work place. Its weird how many people like drama over things being smooth and steady.

If you looked at my post... I said 37k on my drives... I was grossed at 116,000 lbs. A mere 3K over on my drives... and a total of 10K over on combined gross.
We had the hardest time finding a terminal supervisor for a while. Most drivers (and even dock workers) got paid more than running the administrative side of the house. Your choice... the pay there working a desk may be higher than running a wheel.
Again... most tanker units do not care if you had prior experience in the field... they care about the prior miles. I have the endorsement, and I could get a job with them just from my dry van experience. -
Man, you're so close to Southeastern's new OTX terminal in Orange, yet so far...
closer to Shreveport really... -
I can pack my life into a duffle bag at any time

Well they are DEFINITELY hiring there. They are in need of city drivers very badly. That service center moved from Lake Charles, so they lost a lot of guys who didn't want a long commute to work. Many are selling their homes or making the drive to stay with Southeastern though. This is only their second week in the new OTX facility. If you're interested, fill out the application online, then call the terminal manager. His name is Chris Santos.
