That's going to be a bad area for home-time consideration regardless what carrier you consider. There is decent energy production work there as you know, but not sure if any of them might offer OTJ training. Not sure if any of the larger carriers who train have terminal operations in Albuquerque but that would be helpful to "home" at ABQ

Good luck and keep your options open and keep your eyes open for other less-then-traditional ways to get driver training by working your way towards other driving avenue options, while still making money.

Swift has excellent training, don't worry. Even if Swift didn't keep you there are dozens of other companies that will.

Southern Refrigerated Transport has a new CDL school and they might take you on since they run a lot of I-40 and I-10. If they hire you they will ship you to Texarkana and free hotel and 3 meals a day while in their CDL school.

Keep us posted; lots of experience on here to help you.

    Keep away from CRE.
    Didn't expect that from Prime.
Keep checking with companies - let them know your 20 right off the bat.

m-v-t-i website may have some training options around Albuquerque. They are partnered with schools across the nation.

If you are going OTR you really don't have to worry about freight in your area, except getting in and out of home times.
All other times you are moving with the freight through 48 states.

The thing of it is, though - and I ran into this problem when I had to take an OTR gig after moving to Colorado - there are companies who won't hire if they don't feel they can guarantee regular home time. That was the response I got from ATS.. I don't know how widespread that is, but I know it does exist.
