They will still pay for a motel, even if you turn down a truck switch.

kinda odd that they have a sign that says all Hazmat loads must enter scale (I thought it said 'regardless of signal') but allow Prepass trucks to bypass...of course it doesn't matter to me anymore, as long as I'm a Poly driver that is...we don't do Hazmat.

Well, my week has been turned upside-down in the span of less than 90 minutes. And not Crete's fault, I must add....

Got my truck out of the Detroit shop last night around 9. Drove back to the KC yard and went to bed. Hoping for a load to get me toward SC for hometime.

Load #1....goes to MN for tomorrow. Nope.
Load #2...goes to St. Louis area for Thursday, 394 miles. Uh, nope...been sitting three days.

Wife sends me a message...she won't be home this weekend....has to switch sitting duties (her elderly mom) with her sister who has to work, so she won't be home anyway......

Load #3...1388 miles to Nampa, ID for Friday morning. I took that one.

Gonna end up staying out nearly 8 weeks, then taking the week of June 9th off for vacation. My youngest daughter graduates the evening of the 9th, and I don't want to miss that anyway. I also get to buy her a car when I'm home and deliver it to her. She's also pregnant. Swell.

I've also put in an application with an LTL company for a line-haul position 8 miles from home. Wife and I have had enough (of OTR, not of each other...yet....). If that doesn't work, I'll keep looking. But OTR has reached its limit with me.

Might be LTL...might be tanker....but my OTR time is dwindling. Y'all can have 'er.

Best 'O luck with it...after this years extra home time so far, if I went LTL or even regional and got home more often, I'd be divorced in a year. Don't get me wrong, I love my wife more than life itself...but we get on each others nerves when I'm home too much.

I pull a tanker now. Wouldn't go back to dry van for anything. Half of my miles are empty.
