Some and I mean a few, potential employers turned me down because I didn't have a 160 hour course, Allstate's is 60 hours. But I think the 160 hours includes lots of classroom time, waiting for the "slow kids" to catch up or those who didn't study, and when it comes to hands on, again I can't say for sure, but what I saw seemed to be one truck to several students. When I showed up for a lesson, I got all the time on the clock with a truck and instructor. To the company's that didn't accept this I tried to explain but- you know the expression, if you have to explain......I think it likely that I got as much - or more, actual truck driving time.

I have been thinking about driving for what seems like forever. I have been in IT Corp Sales for 20+yrs and I am just bored beyond belief. The money is great, but life isn't all about money. I am recently divorced and I am in the process of selling my house. After which, there will be nothing to keep me here and I really want to move south. If you're talking about NETTS Bridgeport campus, and I am sure you are, I couldn't agree more about the neighborhood. It's much closer to me than Allstate, but I like the one on one training that Allstate offers.

I just finished a 168 program, test on Friday. 1 week classroom, the rest doing regional runs w/ trainer...

Do you mean with NETTTS ? If so - I stand corrected, They didn't tell me much about the curriculum when I was there, and I asked, they were all nice enough, but sent me from one person to another and I didn't really get a feel for what the course was. So you're saying they actually had you doing jobs ? That would be one way to keep tuition low I guess.

Lincoln Land, Springfield, IL. They were deadhead miles, but we did a ton of Chicago to St. Louis runs; and a ton of backing/parking... Good program.

Good luck with your test if you mean this Friday. Btw , I spent way more time at my school beyond scheduled hours, which they encouraged. I came in early every day, watched every video, studied for every endorsement and kept going to the DMV for testing. Because I studied very hard at home also, I got a perfect score on every test, including final exam and road test.
Puppage Thanks this. -
Hello again, I'm in Coraopolis and finished basic training. I'm now waiting to go out with a road trainer or a T.E. they call it -(training engineer) I've had a very good experience so far with Schneider, all the instructors and other employees are good people, and they seem very professional. The HOS stuff is pretty confusing for a greenie, so I'm studying while I wait.
One scary part is all the things we can get heavy fines for, man -I knew it was regulated but holy @%#$ ! !
makes me wish I was spending the first few months with an experienced driver so I could really understand it all better. -
Welcome aboard!
