LOL! I swear we didn't do anything 'special'!! Maybe it was because we were Central drivers from Sacramento??

Sorry to to have missed you too, but if you are ever in Sacramento, near the 49'er, let us know :D

My advice would be to keep the Swift authority and plates/permits etc in place until you get home. Also run home On Duty Driving. Remember in Off Duty Driving you must return to the point of origin and DOT will pick you apart not believing you will be doing a 1400 mile roundtrip.

There is an article in this month's The Trucker (those newspapers you see at TA) about an owner op who was trying to get home from NM to AR to attend a funeral. He drove Off Duty and got popped at the last scale before his hometown and was put out of service. The guy is so mad he put his tractor/trailer up for sale and is quitting trucking.

All that said,I am very much interested in the DMV process you all go through to get plates in California. I just remember going through a mess trying to get my name on the title, the woman in charge of the Stockton branch was telling me I have to pay $4500 bucks, I argued I was leased onto a carrier who provided plates, IRP, IFTA etc. I was sent down to another clerk who knew what to do and charged me just $18 bucks to have my name on the title. 7 weeks later they send the balance of the $4500 back in the mail lol.

Also evidently the truck has to be weighed at some special scale in Sacramento to certify its weight for the IRP I understand. I showed them a CAT scale printout, they would not accept that. Again any info you have on the process would be much appreciated, I am looking to get my own authority this time next year.

Klingon is the one that dealt and is dealing with the DMV... I will let him answer that question. Reading this to him he said he just followed the instructions on the web site... I will add there was a whole lot of cussing too :D

We are trying to get home... Got a load heading west. It delivers in Cheyenne, WY... Next they try to send us to Denver to pick up a load going to KS, then pick up a load in KS with a drop and then final in UT... What part of get us home do they not understand?? Called our DM/DL and she is like, who is giving you these loads?? So she is researching...

    The adventure continues!!

We committed to the load from Denver to Ogden... What about loads from the Ogden area? Another question... Is the Carrier package offered by ITS worth the $$ or should we just go Standard?
