"my wife called me and told me they paid me twice on a load and she asked me what I was going to do ... I said nothing ... if they want to pay me twice let them ... "

Dishonesty is never pretty and speaks volumes about ones character. But, that's just me.

Definitely entertaining. Worlds better than the usual posts.

    1. I am a felon, who will hire me?

I don't know. But I've known drivers that were felons, but they were willing to beat the bushes to find a job instead of waiting for a hookup.

    2. Can I carry a gun/ what do you do for self defense on the road?

Yes, you can carry a gun. Have your papers in order. Screw company policy. If something goes down, you won't be working there regardless of their policy. Just worry about the legal end.

    2. Automatic or manual?

Either you can drive or you can't. It doesn't matter about the transmission, what kind of wagon you're pulling. A driver can drive anything that rolls. ANYTHING.

    3. Is CR England, Swift, Schneider, JB, USX,...etc...a good company?

No. Then again, neither are you a good driver, rookie. When you become a good driver, you will know the good companies.

    4. Is trucking safe for women?

No. You're going to get pooped on just like the men. So learn to do your job and do it well, because I won't have any simpathy for you when they put you out of their truck for being a screwup.

"No, will women be harassed by men out on the road?"

Maybe by the punks and morons and weirdos, but before you feel flattered, keep in mind that these same guys would probably do farm animals too. The real men aren't going to bother you.

    5. Should I lease a truck?

If you have to ask, then "No, you shouldn't lease a truck."

    6. What's the best company to start at?

Any one of them where you're not pulling a box.

I'll second that. In my books not saying something is in the exact same category as stealing.

    To the OP:

I've thanked your posts before, as you've made some good ones. This thread however seems like it has almost been written by a different person. Are you by chance on pain meds as you are posting? I just don't think you are coming across as you are intending.

company driver making 66 cpm ... it's all about maximizing your legal dot hours at this point
I've driving on both paper logs and e logs and I can say ... it's easy to let someone else or thing (meaning a qualcom or driver manager) manage your hours
I didn't do well in math but it's pretty simple to live by the 8 hour rule ...
driver managers will run you 10 hours a day if you let them ... and then make you sit in some sleazy truckstop for 24 hours till you get some hours back and at worst a 34 hour reset ... OMG ... people ... please do the 34 hours resets at home ... seriously ....
I WORKED 10 WEEKS STRAIGHT ... YES WEEKS and never took a day off ... you need to stick to your guns ...

I would repower loads all the time from 20 year veteran drivers who would pick up their qualcom and find out how many hours they had to drive that day ... and whatever it said that's what they had to work with...

in the state of Washington it's the law that you must be aware of how many hours you have on any given day...and what hours you have used for the week .... IN YOUR HEAD ...

so you need to be the one managing your hours ... do not let your hours manage you
    keep it simple
    8 hours a day
    day 1 .........8
    day 2 .........16
    day 3..........24
    day 4..........32
    day 5..........40
    day 6..........48
    day 7..........56
    day 8..........64

we all know what happens at midnight at the end of the 8 day ... yes you roll them over
you start working those 9 and ten hour days it won't take long to run yourself out of hours ...

this sounds like rookie stuff ... but tell me why 20+ veteran drivers have a problem with this

keep it simple .... and stick to your 8 hour days ...
is everyone going to have an 8 hour day everyday ... no ... I could show you pages and pages of my own personal hours and my averages always varied on my accumulative between 56+ at the start of my day to 64+ at the end of my day ...

ok let me say this again ...

I would almost always start my day with 56+ hours used up on my 70...

which would always give me 11 hours of driving for the current day... remember ...........I didn't drive 11 everyday.... I stuck with 8 to 8 1/2

so at the end of the day my accumulative total for my used 70 would be around 64 to 65 depending ...

if you are e logs .... use a notebook to keep track

the other way to figure out how to keep from using up all your hours ... 500 miles a day... how simple is that

I know it's tough to do some days .... but if you do the math a 500 is going to keep you working everyday....

    walk in the park
get up ... drive 250 ... take your 30 min. mandatory lunch ... finish with 250 miles your are done... showered, feed, and to bed

start getting up early .... makes it easier to find a place to park in the afternoon..........

if you are being paid by the mile and attempt to break it down in an hourly perspective you will most likely see something lower then min. wage... sadly

I agree with all your comments ... following the rules ... keeping your license clean... and watching your back at all times ...

because my friends these trucking companies are in the business to make money for them not for you ... if your company is a successful money maker ... then go for the ride ...

it's like the crap tables ...

if the dice are rollin ... keep betting the pass line
