shop steward informed me a little while ago. will be most likely working the dock this week. it's not a rant. I like the dock better then driving, can plan to get off at a certain time period and have a life that day.. TM leaves us alone, get our crap done and go the fock home

Dock work? this weekend was the longest amount of dockwork I've done in over a year. Stopped at my turn point, stripped one bill off the trailer (mixed bundle of a 30 ft i-beam and some rebar. Thing weighed over 2K. Took me half an hour to get it lifted enough to wrap a sling around it so I could drag it out of my trailer. Got back to my home terminal and was asked to combine two trailers. Took me an hour. Again, I was by myself and was stuck with some awkward pieces. Came in with a light triple set... left on my 10 with a heavier triple set. I loaded my middle trailer tail heavy and had a really crappy time keeping everything in a straight line.
90 minutes of dock time. Then I got to start my weekend.Shaggy Thanks this. -
Meh I don't miss working the dock at all. Too hot now anyways. Plus all the dock I did at UPSF gave me 5 sinus infections in 8 months, but then again they never cleaned the dock after shifts. And yes I had a dust mask on

Think i have the 7 year itch, I hate driving. Sure I have /had 2 arguably of the top 5 " local "company jobs combined package ( rate / benefits ). I love working the dock, the mental challenge. Honestly I am a car person/ mechanic , when something goes wrong with big rig tell dispatch and the shop exact problem, other then that can't tell you what year tractor i drive and good luck trying to discuss overall tractor models with me. I don't care lmao. It's a job not a lifestyle.
Too bad my current employer wouldn't have me full time at terminal. No way find a 9-5 dock job non union @ 21-24hr paid medical etc and ot after 8. under $60 a month in dues big focking deal with zero cost medical lol
humble person, when others compliment my duties of working the terminal, thats awesome. adapt to know each co-drivers way of things to be done in order/weight etc.....
I should shut up.Last edited: Jun 17, 2014

PS: Jealous of your triples, I was joking about 4, I'm doing 5
PS2: I ain't doing crap. Kudos Shane
HAHAHA if our terminal was longer, I'd seriously hook 5. Racking my brain, the labor/time is not worth more then 2 and some arse hole would snitch from the internet -
