I've graduated CDL school on 6/13. I have been invited to orientation at Con-Way and Werner. I wanted some input on these two companies, hopefully the feed back I receive will help me with my choice. I've been reading these threads for some time now and understand that a starter company is just that. However I'm interested in a company with good training and "decent" pay. Any information I can get on Con-Way's headquarters in Joplin (hotel, surrounding area) would be great. I did some googling and didn't get much info. Werner's Allentown Terminal (where I was invited) had a lot of info from their drivers, mostly bad reviews. I'm not expecting much just want to be prepared.

ever hear of the term.. the blue screw?
    Yeah Werner is bad.

All depends on where you live, I think you could do better than only two options though.

Inquire about the dedicated account in Topton.
    If you do Conway.

Just don't turn left and ask for directions while parked on the RR tracks ;)

Keep looking; make more comparisons. One mistake new CDL graduates make is thinking they only have a couple of companies to choose from or must choose a company the school recommends.

Old Dominion has recently been hiring a few new CDL graduates.

NFI based in New Jersey hires new CDL graduates.

I'm in trucking school and today we stopped by a truck stop where we all struck up a conversation with two hot chicks running teams for Werner. They were in a 2014 freight liner and they loved their company. They said their pulling up 1200 a week and home on weekends on their dedicated account. Never driven for them but they were happy. They could also be lying about their numbers but they seemed honest.

Are they making $1200.00 each or split 50/50?
