I have not yet been told not to wash a truck. I've driven three trucks so far this week and two of them got washed.

I just seem to think I do a better job of it at $20 an hour than the closest truck wash that really just sprays the truck with acid and rinse.

I wash mine every week but I own it. When I drove it for the other guy he paid me 14/hr or 100 to wash and rub on it every weekend.

KLLM has a wash bay at most of the terminals. Free wash as long as you drag a trailer through with you.

But that does me no good. I am intermodal and park my truck at the house. I have not been to a "full" terminal since I upgraded to first seat three years ago!

They don't pay for it, they wash it for me every single time I'm at the terminal, in addition to fueling it up and doing a PM inspection (sometimes multiple times a week).

i never understood a driver's fascination with this.

If you pay me I will wash it. If you pay me to take it to a truck wash, it will get washed. Otherwise spend your time getting it cleaned when it is parked at the terminal when I am on home time. No pay - truck does not get washed!

In the same token. As a mechanic I would not or will not work on a piece of equipment that is not washed, degreased, and pressure cleaned. Don't waste my time with your dirt and junk.

People need to take responsibility for there equipment and business.
