Need your advice truckers

Study until you pass. Study the "CDL Practice Tests" at the top of this page.
When you get the permit, get the endorsements at the same time for the better paying jobs after graduation from CDL school.

 

Pretty normal to fail tests buddy, keep reading, practicing.

You get 2 or 3 chances as I remember.

Welcome to the machine, Bluebruce,, you think that's bad, wait until you take the HazMat portion. Some people think it's a snap, but I failed it 2 out of the 3 times I took it. It's like they ask questions that aren't in the manual. They are tricky, but now you know what to expect. Been a long time since I took any test, but it seems to me, they are big on numbers. I'm going to respectfully disagree on one aspect of what Chinatown said. If you're having difficulties, I'd suggest just getting the 3 sections ya need and not worry about the rest of the endorsements right off the bat. You want them for sure, but those can come a bit later when you've got the main 3 sections covered.

It's a lot of information to grasp at once. I've been in school for 3 weeks now and still don't know all the parts of an engine w/out a lil cheat sheet. Even then, it helps to see it on a truck (or at least some vehicle). Like for instance, the book may tell ya about the slack adjuster and such. When ya actually see it on the rig, then ya kind of go "ohhhhhhhh, so that's what they're talking about."

So if you're going to get your permit before you go to CDL school, I think it might be better to get the ones ya absolutely need and leave the rest of them later. That's a lot of information to try and grasp if you've never been over it before.

Also, don't let failing the test stop ya from going to school. They'll teach ya what to study for at your school. In addition to that, they'll show ya things on the truck. Having a picture in mind can help ya quite a bit. Pay attention to the pre-trip inspection even though that's not technically a section for the permit test at your DMV/Secretary of State. A lot of that relates closely to what you'll be tested on for your permit.

So if you're going to get your permit before CDL school, then ya may wanna hold off on the other endorsements.

Oh, last but not least, wear some headphones or ear plugs. Even if ya know the material, its a different environment taking a test with kids crying, people yapping on their phones, etc. than it is at your home or in school where it's quiet.

Trick questions will kill you if relying on memory instead of understanding.

Study until you 'get it' and then take your time reading the questions on the test.

 

You failed the first time so what try again.Don't get discouraged and give up then try again in a few months.There's a lot you have to know.Keep up on the studying then take more then one online test.Theres many sites that have permit tests.Once you pass all them then you're ready to ace the real test.

 

Did you take all three parts at the same time? In order for me not to stress myself out when I tested for my permit, I took two at a time. Yes, I had to go to the DMV twice but, I made sure to go as soon as they opened. I took the general knowledge and combos then air brakes and tankers endorsement. The tanker endorsement was a pretty easy test so, I got that out of the way. I will work on the other endorsements later. Whatever you do, don't give up!
