Well I went out and checked out a W900 today... oh man. There's no going back now haha. Its pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Just a good old truck, Cummins N14 Celect+, 18 speed, has the smaller studio sleeper with the couch and all the skylights (unfortunately not the monster 86"), runs great. It has an old APU but no idea if it works, it would definitely need some playing with. Got some issues for sure but overall in really good shape for something of that age. Higher miles so I'll definitely be taking it to a shop to have it checked over and have it dyno'd and blowby checked out and have an ECM report printed out. I think my Inline tool I use with my current truck should work as well, I will have to try it. What a frigging classy truck those things are though. It was my first time I've driven one on the road, man it sounded so good. Shifts really smooth, if it has any muffler at all on it its not doing much, that jake... holy ****. I will get so many tickets. And not care. LOL.
So yeah, I'm really interested in it. First step before ANYTHING is to call SNI which I'm about to do shortly and see if I can sweet talk them into letting me bring an older truck onboard. If I get a no from them, I'll just have to wait until my lease is up to start looking for a truck, turn my current truck in, and then look for someone else to pull trailers for. I'm just not gonna buy a new(er) truck. If they say "yes it's OK", then the next step is to start looking at financing options. If that all goes through then I'll take the truck to the shop and have it all checked out. If that goes through, and my payments are really low, then I'll go ahead and pick it up and between now and November start fixing it up so when I turn my current truck in I'll be able to hop right back in this one and keep rolling. We will see though, got a lot to do before I can go anywhere with this, gotta make sure I don't get too far ahead of myself lol.w.h.o, Time4Change, poppapump1332 and 4 others Thank this. -
W900 are sexy, does it meet sni requirement? Wheelbase length?
-
Yep, 260". Just got off the phone with Charlotte and we're all clear to on the older truck as long as it can work with the EOBR. It should, since the engine has an ECM that can interfaced with. But they're getting with the SNI "engineers" to confirm it'll work with the N14 Celect+.
One step down!knuckledragger and mickimause Thank this. -
