Rand McNaleycan give you those routes, you must have one of those don't you.BrenYoda883 Thanks this.

RM only shows you where the roads are. It doesn't tell you about things like stop signs, traffic lights, steep grades, etc. I'm sure that there's more than one alternate route, and the OP is looking for the best one for trucks. You probably didn't know that. That information only comes from asking others who know. Which is what the OP did.skyviper73, Dark_Majesty_06 and GenericUserName Thank this.

You can have a choice of tolls or many stoplights. You can't have both no tolls and no stoplights in that part of Illinois.
"semi" retired, drvrtech77 and chopper103in Thank this. -
If you can convince your boss of it, the tolls are worth it.

Get really INTO the RMN Motor Carrier Atlas and it does tell you about tolls and stop lights and travel terrain. You just got to know how to read it. That said, OP did ask a simple question. So yeah; that part of IL, you pay the tolls to be able to go. No tolls is stop and go. Dealer's choice on what suits your need at the time. No real terrain challenges.
semi retired semi driver and windsmith Thank this. -
Ya right I probably haven't been driving long enough to know that. The point was he should have one and yes you can tell about the area he is talking about. Try 41 I think it is, I believe that is the one that runs north and south but it has been 20 years since I was up there and didn't run the pay roads.windsmith Thanks this.

Rt 41, is the only truck route I can think of. Rt 43 might work too. I rather take the tolls
semi retired semi driver Thanks this. -
Don't you just factor in the cost of tolls and pass that expense on down the line?
-
Me too but like I said it has been 20 years since I went up that way and didn't pay the tolls, I think it has always been a no brainer.
